Easier for the league to do that, then try organise the lower grades again. But we (clubs) pay there wages. don't we?

Why wouldn't you fill Div 6 before Div 7?

Income from a hobby is not assessable and not subject to tax. A hobby is a leisure activity that is not undertaken in a commercial manner and does not constitute a business http://www.rurallaw.org.au/handbook/xml/ch06s32s04.php
im studying commerce/finance done a course done taxation law , what authority do u have? i would love to know but i doubt u will reply [/quote]

Thanks, thats all i was asking. To be honest, the fact that they do not have to declare is good for them, i wish that my second job wasnt taxed so high! Some players earn nearlly as much playing amatuer footy than others actual job, and they dont have to pay tax on it. You can see why players chase the money, if I could (by this mean was good enough to) I would. it is a sweet deal!

It is better than players being lost to the game.

Why couldnt the SAAFL make a dispensation for players from these two clubs where if they are going to play at a division higher than thier clubs last season then they wont attract any points, if they drop down then they will? If they are staying in the same div then they should attract whatever they would have if they were playing at their original club. The chances are that there would be a handful of good players that will test themselves and try at higher clubs, if they do well and play A grade then good luck to them, they should not be penalised and not considered because their club folded, surely this is not the reason the rule was implemented?

If there is 100 players at the 2 clubs, I would say they would still be in the league.

Paralowie had a good 60-70 players last year, the reason why they are folding is because of bad debt. Smithfield folded because they had players but they never payed fees. I think they could easily have 30-40 players.

Mate, I'm not sure where you are getting your info from but it is incorrect. Smithfield's numbers have declined over the past few seasons, firstly to Angle Vale and then to Central United.
Most of these players were young, fringe A graders or genuine B graders.
Last season they struggled to get a full team on the park in the B's each week yet the A's were reasonably competitive, they hadn't lost that many from the A's initially, it was a matter of you can't be in div. 5 if you don't have a reserves side.
They couldn't easily have 40 players, if they did have they would be still in there, there was a few new faces in there last night and there seems to be some belief that they'll field a team in the C comp, a few old heads and a few that don't want to play for another club.
It's been a pretty testing week for a few blokes around the place coming to the realization that they wont be playing for the good old blue and white this year, I've had a fair few texts from people just needing to let some feeling out, tough time for sure.

TBH mate, Andy hasn't really poached our players, some went across with him as he'd coached them for years, some went because they were mates with others that went, some went because they probably wouldn't have got an A grade gig with Smithfield last season.
I have no anomosity towards Andy, he got offered an A grade gig, he waited to see if he was successful in his bid to coach Smithfield, he took the offer. Andy aspired to be a senior coach and took the first opportunity that came his way, of course he would've asked a few lads to go across with him, that's one of the first things that gets asked in a coaching interview "Who and what can you bring to our club to make us want to give you this role".
Taken players, yes, Poaching players, no.

AFAIK the coach has resigned due to lack of numbers at training. Highly unlikely they'll put two teams together this year.

Too late, too far apart geographically, colour scheme would be pretty easy though.

Well, Smithfield players being rated 0 would be the opposite of an appropriate solution. Would encourage more to leave rather than stay on at the C level with Smithfield as they try survive and rebuild.

If Paralowie are indeed having to close their doors then their players should be rated at 0 to allow them to move to a club together. Why should the point system get in the way of mates that have lost their club and were teammates continuing to play together?

One club may benefit more than another - so be it. They're not going to be the beneficiaries because they are poaching, paying or because players lack loyalty.

I appreciate your thoughts mate but seriously, we wouldn't expect players of an A grade standard to stick around and play C's, I've offered my full support to any player that is moving on to either better themselves or play at the same level at least.
On a positive note, at least we'll see some rego out of some of the freeloaders that want to go and freeload somewhere else.

Yes, I heard the coach resigned also and heard they are struggling to get one side together, let alone two teams for D7. We have had a couple of their players wonder down for training, so wonder if they will get a side up.

Sad to see another club go under, enjoyed many games both football and cricket against paralowie over the years.

carey, you are a quality poster but everyone I have spoken to have categorically refuted the claims made in this thread.

Paralowie are still alive and kicking, have not folded, but are rather in some financial strife which they are doing their darndest to get out of.

Mitchell Park will not be given the option of staying in Div 6, even if Paralowie decide not to field a side in 2011. If that happens Div 6 will have a bye round...

Paralowie have until the 27th of March I think, that is when the doors shut. There was a meeting last night between members and the committee. We have until next friday, which is when the council meet??, to try and figure out how to save the club. Alot of phone calls are apparently going to be made today.
