Why not just do away with the bowlers all-together and use bowling machines. That way batsmen can tee off to their hearts desire, balls will just sail into crowd who can scream their heads off. The sixes came so often yesterday it became dreadfully boring.

I prefer a contest between bat and ball. One day crap just doesn't do it for me.

In an unrelated topic Michael Clarke will be fit for the World Cup and is the future of Australian cricket. He will bat at 4 ahead of Hodge. He bowls in much the same manner as Lehmann.

Dont put ur house on it. Hodge is making runs clarke isnt. The selecters have good cricket brains. They can see Hodge is a better batsman at the moment.

While symonds is out clarke will play. However when symonds is back we have watson and symonds to be the 5th. Then it will be which of Hodge and Clarke are in better form.

The selectors have also identified Clarke from a long time out. He is earmarked as the next long term captain and other than a couple of poor innings late in the odi series he has been in very good form all summer.

Yep what you say is right. Hodge is better batsman than him right now though and if his form continues he cant be left out. I honestly believe Hodge is one of the finest players in the world at the moment.

He not only can be left out but he will be left out. Not until Symonds returns but when he does it's bye bye Brad.

Sorry mate but he is a class act. He has been dominating domestic cricket for 2 months. Unlucky to be dropped from the test side. He is one to watch. There is martyn and mwaugh about him. He may even average more than 42 in test cricket before he retires

What's his average now? If it's not more than 42 now then he's no chance. The number 4 and 5 spots are not mortgaged by Hussey and Clarke in Test cricket but owned. Ponting has 3 wrapped up and the number 6 spot will be taken by Symonds (hopefully for a while) and if not a young emerging talent. The ship has sailed for Hodge in Test cricket. He's a very good player and will go down with the likes of Siddons, Lehmann etc who were unlucky to not have played more test cricket. Barring an injury crisis his Test career is finished.

But watching o/d cricket on TV is better than watching South Park + Big Brother
o/d Cricket is for the spectators and I love watching it.

Exactly. If you're just here to bitch about one-day cricket, then why bother with this thread? Sheesh.

I never get tired of seeing sixes being hit, I find it very entertaining.
Granted, on tiny grounds, they almost become run of the mill, but still...

If there wasn't so much shitty bowling around at the moment, there'd be some decent bat/ball contests!

There is plenty of decent bowling around and plenty of good contests between bat and ball. All of them happen to be in Test cricket. ODI rules favour the batsmen so much it is ridiculous.

Because last time I checked, this was a forum for open discussion, not one to sit around agreeing with each other. Is that okay with you, or should we make a rule that everyone who posts has to check with you first to see if it's okay? SHEESH!!!!

Ouch, that's funny.
I'm not trying to censor anyone, just wondering why (in any topic) some folk seem to get off repeatedly bagging stuff they don't like or even watch...
So go ahead, whinge all you like about one dayers -they're here to stay.
