Interesting day at Dwight Reserve!!!

Eastern Park won the toss and chose to bat first and were quickly 3/30 with 2 run outs and some very good bowling. That turned to 7/80 with Craigmore bowling extremly well and some ordinary shots.

Then the number 8 batsmen playing his 2nd A Grade game this year hit 83 and the number 9 hit 50 odd to get us up to a respectable all out 233.

Craigmore then had 24 overs to bat at the end of the day, were 0/15 odd but by the end of play are now 8/82.

The less said about the umpiring the better, i think both teams will say it was the worse display they have ever seen from a PDCA umpire, nice bloke shitehouse umpire

I just checked who you had, I gotta agree, an absolute spud, I seen him absolutely ruin an under 13 north vs south game one day, it was disgraceful, an everlasting memory that everyone there was appalled with.

Yeah i think Madmax could have alot to say about the umpires performance.

worse part is that before the game the umpire is telling you about his friday night and then he puts in a performance like that.

I heard some stories about this umpiring display and they sound like Pakistan in the early 90's.

Just like to say Angle Vale's hospitality was exceptional, it was an emotion filled day for us with the passing of Di Newman who has been a valuable commitee member over the years and a personal friend to many of us.
After requesting that we have a minutes silence before the game, Angle Vale participated and wore black armbands too, it was a true reflection on the sportsmanship that we see from time to time in the PDCA and it was a proud moment to be involved in.
As for our effort, it was a final last ditch effort to prove we are capable of playing Grade 1, we wanted to bowl first but that didn't happen, after an 88 run opening partnership, we never looked back, eventually amassing 9/355 with Raed hitting 96, Shane 53, Tuckwell 44, Morris 39, then Gouldy, Taylor and Newman chipping in with 20's.................A great day for the Panthers.
Once again, a big thanks to Angle Vale.

Good to hear you guys finally posted a big score and it would of been better if Raed had of got his century with others also chipping in.

Sorry to hear of your loss, hopefully the boys can get the win next week for the Newman family.

What i don't get, is looking at the photos from Thurs. and reading all the positive posts etc from everyone about the PDCA winning etc, why don't the assoc and clubs promote and encourage the assoc games more? Why don't blokes want to play higher or test themselves or even just be proud to be named in the "best XI" in an assoc?

My answer would be that it is a bit of an overkill, a one off game would certainly attract the best players.

As for the cricket on the weekend, it really doesn't matter with the outcomes because we won't be getting a home game with the A grade more than likely finishing top 2 no matter the results in Grade 1. Wouldn't mind it been at Craigmore, only 5 minutes from my house anyways.

We went in for a mid-match beer yesterday, one to say a bit of a thankyou for the Vale showing such respect with our loss and their drink prices were sensational, we kicked on a bit back at our club too.

Yeah its a great part of the game and should be done more often.

Played against Angle Vales b grade this year and have a close mate who plays in their c grade and they are a great bunch of lads with a really good club environment going on down there.

$3 beers at angle vale, cant beat that. nice to have a beer n chat with them after the game and thanks to all the angle vale boys for the respect they showed b4 the match, much appreciated. personally kicked on til bout 5am with james beam watching epl after the club. hope next sat night is a huge 1 for us mate.

I think you are right about one thing, the chance of not hosting a home final at Greenwith would be in the back of their mind if they lose, but are a good enough team to make the runs and IMO should make 160. We haven't lost there this year (through all grades) so would go in with plenty of confidence.

I think the lads will just hold out SW who look like wrapping up the outright very early next week. I imagine SW would need to get to 300 before they declare and bowl for the outright, that way they would get top spot easily should Brahma lose, and even jump you guys.

160 is a difficult score, neither high or low, seen many finals won with that.

I believe Groover has a fair record against Virginia, some history stemming back in the ATCO days. I will back him in to do the damage, already been some good banter between him and the Virginian lads. I am sure they wont be short of a word next week.

If you are referring to a Grade 2 semi final, I highly doubt spiteful is the word, maybe extremely competitive and willing? I think the banter will be set at a cracking pace from the first ball
