If it gets rid of the bye and gives me a chance to abuse some Crows fans then it's a big YES from me, I've always been a fan of this concept, so many more pros than cons.

How would adding two teams get rid of the bye?
Also, I can't think of one 'pro' that outweighs the 'con' of destroying the integrity of the competition.

1 would be added, the Powers reserves side would be the Magpies.
More supporters, more games, more coverage, more money, no byes, all good!
Integrity is fairy tale stuff and irrelevant IMHO. If anything it would gain integrity in more peoples eyes.
Just my opinion though, my opinion also is that it would never happen, it's a bit too progressive for a lot of people in this state, a bit like having a decent sports stadium!

If they went to 22 rounds there would be more games = 110 minor round matches.
But you would expect them to go to 18 rounds to be equitable = 90 minor round matches.
At the moment there are 21 rounds with four matches and 2 with three = 90 minor round matches.

Why would you expect that when it wasn't the case when we previously had 10 teams?
I would expect it to be the same as it was before.
Doesn't really matter, as I said, it wont happen.

I know it won't happen; ok, 90% sure it won't happen - 10% gut feeling they will keel over to the AFL.
But when there was talk of the NT team joining recently, the SANFL said it would be 18 rounds to "simplify the draw". However, you would expect that it would be 22 rounds to line up with the AFL and how many matches they play.

I think the introduction of the Eagles and Dockers sides into the WAFL is a sign of what's to come here. I completely agree with the negatives raised in this thread about where do they get the other players from, what happens if they can't put out a full team, do they have a reserves side in the WAFL and then a colts? If they have enough players, where do the surplus players play that weekend, again reserves and colts?

Do they just get filled up with left over players from other clubs? The whole situation is messy, but guess what, talk to people like Cornes and I don't think they'd care about these questions. I don't think the SANFL will have the strength to resist the AFL and the AFL clubs. When it comes down to it, Port Adelaide and Adelaide don't give a toss about the SANFL and haven't since probably after the first few years the Crows were in the "big league".

They'll pressure the commission and eventually some half-arsed method will get traction and before you know it the teams will be entered into the league, Magpies will become Power, Crows will end the bye...

... and before you know it we'll be talking about the Crows and Port making their 11th grannie in a row. Why play for Sturt when you can play for two AFL clubs, best chance of being noticed and given a contract.

Better training facilities...

Better medical facilities...

Better everything, they'll have access to facilities and experts beyond SANFL club dreams...

Once that decision is made, that's it for this league IMHO.

I dont think there's any reason for it to have to happen here, and it should be avoidable if the clubs can remain financial enough (should they be opposed to it, which I would certainly hope they would).

Whilst the SANFL owns the two local AFL licenses there's a chance it could happen, but I would think the Crows and Power's desire to own their own licenses would be greater than a want for reserves teams, and I can only see them having one or the other.

LMAO @ Port and Crows contesting the GFs. They'd be bottom 2 most years with perhaps South swapping with them occasionally.
I'd make the ressies and juniors an 8 team comp and rezone accordingly.
