Saw a bit of the T20 game between Mylor and Echunga on Sunday. Mylor won the annual event for the second time chasing down 208 in the last over. Gaunt showed class with a classy display of hitting and the Mylor lower order contributed to see them home after some lusty hitting from the Miners. Special mention has to go to Jimmy Warbs who had an impressive 41 off his one over. (six 6's a 4 with a no-ball in for good measure!)

Strong word around the HCA that if Mylor win the B grade flag they will be in A grade next season, no choice

Bring it on! Be good to have someone make the decision for us. Too long have the players had too much say about which grade Mylor are in. If that is the case though, surely Stirling will be forced down

Some A grade clubs will get a nice shock when they see just how much of a shambles Mylor is on a Saturday afternoon. Be a nice challenge though. Got a feeling Mylor will have to chase down some big scores if they go up. Their bowling attack is poo.

Gotta win the flag again though.

Get your facts right YP, Hahndorf have also beaten Strath!!

Unfortunately think Strath will win this game EASILY with Echunga struggling to make 80 runs on the Strath minefield...

Nairne to win the premiership by the length of the straight...

My appologies Tex, will make sure to check my sources in the future

Creeks a bit lucky to make the Finals by 0.74 of a point over Hahndorf. The Creeks securing 2 outright wins for the season obviously the deciding factor.
This weeks Semi Finals
Nairne V L. Creek @ Nairne
Strath V Echunga @ Strath

Nairne shooting for 3 flags straight and despite only losing the 1 game this season, i believe it is wide open with any of the 4 teams capable of taking it out.

Lang Creek are shaping up this week to put their strongest team on the park for the season and on paper are more than capable of matching it with Nairne. A VERY competitive hit out against them in the last round would have given the Creeks plenty of optimism in reversing their narrow loss. The result may come down as to wether the big peanut Clint Foster returns to the bowling crease this week after being rested from bowling duties last week with suspected knee/hamstring soreness ?

Strath have to be favourites over Echunga for a number of reasons but are far from certainties.
Strath have quite a bit of recent Finals experience compared to Echungs NONE. It's Echungs 1st finals campaign since returning to 'A' Grade 4 or 5 seasons ago.
Strath home ground is also a massive advantage for them as it's a complete opposite to the Echunga ground.
Echunga, a Hard wicket and generally a quick scoring oval compared to Strath oval, a DIFFICULT Turf pitch to bat on just about ALL of the time coupled with a very slow outfield making run scoring a real grind at times.
Both teams are similar in make up, both have plenty of All Rounder type players to give their team plenty bowling options and a relatively deep batting order.
The deciding factor may be the mental attitudes taken into the match by the players, Strath being faves may be fearful of Losing whilst the young Echunga team need to have the attitude of daring to win and if they believe they can, they may just do that.

Slow day at work, so my TVCA wrap up as finals begin..

A-Grade (pts in brackets)

Woodside (140) Undefeated since very early in season and playing some very good cricket. Pressure on to win first A Grade flag in many years.
Lobey Gold (109) After an unsettled year, will they field their strongest 11 and overcome Woodside?
Mt Torrens (96) Terrific return to A Grade ranks. Strong bowling line up but need some runs at top of the order.
Lobey Black (87) Knocked off Paracombe in last round to claim 4th. Will be very interesting to see what the line-ups look like this week.

Paracombe (77) On their day a capable side. Hills showed he will be a good addition next season.
Gumeracha (59) After the promise showed last season, would have to be disappointed with their year. Batting in particular seemed to drop away.

Woodside V Lobey Black @ Woodside
Lobey Gold v Mt Torrens/Charleston @ Lobey

A2 Grade (for anybody who cares..!)

Eden Valley (154) Have been a little inconsistent since xmas, but will start the finals as deserved favourites. Have match-winners.
Cambrai (132) Before last round loss hadn’t dropped a game since Nov. Will be tough to beat at home in a final.
Woodside (122) Confidence boosting win against Cambrai coming into finals. Batting has dropped away since xmas however.
Lenswood (106) Momentum halted by one wicket loss to Palmer, before sitting out the last two weeks with bye. Poor catching could cost us a final.

Palmer (105) Form fluctuated due to inconsistent line-up but almost snuck into four in final round. Appear to have one very handy ‘recruit’ lined up for next summer.
Gumeracha (55) Didn’t win a game after round 3. Struggled to put 11 on the park some weeks. Disappointing season after playing finals last year.
Birdwood (54) Improved as year progressed. They have some kids worth sticking with, just lacking cricketers in their “prime”.

Eden Valley v Lenswood @ EV
Cambrai v Woodside @ Cambrai

B Grade

Mt Torrens Gold (217) v Mt Torrens Green (125)

Behind Lugutko (1428 runs @178) the Gold team has only dropped one game..against the Green team in a game that was critical to their finals hopes. Hmm. Gold will reverse result.

Paracombe (163) v Eden Valley (135)

Not sure about this one.

Well i think i summarised the Strath v Echunga game pretty well.
Strath ALL OUT .......................... 55
Echunga ALL OUT ....................... 39
Strath 2nd inngs........................5/70 (Lead of 85 going into Day 2 tomorrow)

Whilst in the other Semi Final.
L.Creek blew a solid start with the bat. After working their way to 3/90 they collapsed with a series of SOFT dismissels to be bowled out for 130 (51 overs). A very dissappointing effort indeed.
In reply, Nairne are 2/52 after 19 overs and although their leading run getter Todd Heinrich is out, they would be expected to progress through to the Grand Final.

not the case with Gold's losing again to the Greens with Legu only making 22  ..so just proves the theory that one man will not win you a GF!!considering Mount Torrens were sitting bottom of the ladder after 7 rounds,to make the GF is a fair effort i say.

does anyone have a rough estimate in km/h the quickest bowler in TV league would be??

Great to see Mt Lofty break a long streak to get over the Gators in the A grade yesterday. A win in all three grades (5 including juniors) was a great way to finish off the regular season for the caps with D grade finals to come.

Hopefully with some more development and a little luck Lofty will be pushing for A grade finals next year.

Yeah, a good effort from the Green team. As for your question, I played A grade last year, and A2's this year, and I'd say the quickest would be big Luke "Ugg" Bramberger from Eden Valley. Not sure about actual km/h though. The other would be Alex Georgiou from Lobey. There is not a lot of genuine pace in TVCA.

TVCA Grand Finals:(interestingly the lower ranked team will host the final..just the way the ground allocations panned out)

A Grade: Woodside v Lobethal Gold (@ Lobethal). Woodside comfy win v Lobey Black after shaky start. Lobey Gold apparently successfully defended just 55 on saturday v Mt Torrens, before making 1 for plenty (120+) today.

A2 Grade: Eden Valley v Woodside (@ Woodside). EV too good for Lenswood after Lenswood collapsed after reasonable start. Woodside last pairing put on 30 odd to pinch unlikely 1 wicket win v Cambrai.

B Grade: Paracombe v Mt Torrens/Charleston Green (@ Mt Torrens)

No one close to 130km OBB. Scott Aufderhide and Brian Quill were the quickest last season, but Scotty is at Kensington now and Quill has retired. Norwood Footballer and Lobey paceman Alex Georgiou might have the title now.

Great effort by the Lofty D grade making the final 4 when the other top 5 clubs are all fielding their 2nd side in A4's, would be an amzing effort if Tommy Maz can lead them to a flag.

Yup, it's also a JOKE that your second team, after your A grade team, can be in D's.
