Some guys find it hard enough to pay Fees alone yet to have another $50 thrown on there head because of a clubs mismanagement sucks. As far as i was aware, as long as the player was financial a clearance couldn't be refused. Nothing like making it up as you go

Very interested to see what the league do with the blokes who were 'Club Accepted' days ago before this decision was made.

Surely the league would not of held out on accepting these clearances knowing this might of been introduced in a few days?

What the league should be doing is chasing the club directors that got them into this mess for the money not the players who payed their fees and can prove it via receipts that they are fully paid up.

I believe this is what you do in the corporate world.

I agree with you. cant see how the players can be held accountable for this. Oh well i guess a few more blokes lost to the game is ok.

No they shouldn't go after the club directors, that would be the worst thing you could do to clubs is have their committees liable for club debts.
Who would want to go on a committee and volunteer??

Paralowie is an incorporated association, rather than a company, therefore directors are not liable for debts nor can they receive profits. If directors knowing defraud the association etc they may however face charges, ranging from fines to imprisonment.

Members are also not liable for any debt incurred by the association, only any outstanding membership fees.

I think the $50 is just a back door way for the SAAFL to recoup losses. Be interesting to find out whether that is in fact deemed holding the players liable, thus a big no no.

Should the league of Paralowie make a claim on the JLT insurance for loss through bad business dealings.

According to the exercise I did online last night for our insurance it is the club which could claim thus opening up a whole new can of worms for both them and potenially the league???????????

Surely you can think a little deeper into the situation than that.
How would you get people onto committees of financially struggling clubs if they are liable for the debt if they can't turn it around.?
What if someone at Paralowie joined the committee for this season trying to help out their club and the debts were too great, should the family home be put on the line for example?

i think we are missing the bigger picture here of clubs going into so much debt
its always for one of two reasons
1)just out right theft and fraud..everyone on hear would have been assosiated with or know of a club that has been ripped off,and its not just at amature level.while playing with Werribee in the VFA they got done to the tune of $50,000 by a club person, west adelaide is another

2)clubs trying to compete with bigger stronger clubs that do not have the ongoing resourses to do this efficently and effectively

get the right people at the club with the right culture and commonsense and you dont have these problems

Heard a rumor last night that the email from the office may not be so correct and some blame shifting is involved

Mu understanding of it that it was a high up independant move that was later rejected by the Executive as they were unaware of it but the blame was proportioned onto them.
