Not much we could do when 5-6 blokes refused to play because they would rather play in a football trial match.

I'm not having a go at anyone mate, Its more a dissapointing outcome than anything else. I'm sure you would have a few blokes from that team who would be really angry about what happened - I can't imagine Knoxy is very impressed. No doubt your club will be more careful next year when trying to figure out who is committed and who isnt..

Yeah definatly there was 3-4 blokes in the B Grade who felt badly let down and rightly were very angry, and as you mentioned it was a very dissapointing end to the year for a bloke such as Knoxy who deserves alot better than that.

And your certainly right, next season if all goes as planned will see alot different Eastern Park B grade side. Changes will be made.

For example, how can it be a reasonably weighted penalty when I know for a fact that one of our guys was fined $20.00 for wearing grey socks, and we were also fined $20.00 for not confirming the result of a game which was an inexperienced user error , not a deliberate act, and Eastern Park only get a $350.00 fine for forfeiting a semi final and basically turning the whole competition into a joke? I think they need to look at the whole system in the off season and make sure they have their penalties fitting the crimes both in administration and on the field.

There isn't any discretion with respect to fines. Each offence has a specific fine. Those that decided on those fines felt they were fair and reasonable at the time. If you don't share that view then there is a time and place to raise that issue.

BTW, the fine for a finals forfeit is $250........

I understand that and agree it is the right way to have "set" fines for these types of things, but I suppose what I am trying to say is that forfeiting a semi has got to be much worse than 10 times as bad as an offence than simply wearing grey socks! I think It needs to be looked at again, thats all.

I agree with you, and I suspect there might be changes on the horizon. But if the people willing to get onto the exec and make noises at the delegates meetings feel differently and we don't get out there and do something to make our opinions heard then all we'll be able to do is gripe on here.

Calling someone a wanker is against site rules mate, not my rules, that's why there was no warning or pm to go with it. The other ones are within the limits.
All BS aside, this thread is one of the most used ones on here, there's plenty of stuff that I let go but it just makes me and our group look silly if the line doesn't get drawn somewhere.
Twice in the last week other mods have got on here and cleaned it out and stamped some authority, it does get a bit embarassing when they have to, I'd rather that nothing gets brought to their attention.
I know who most of the posters are on here and realize a lot of what gets written is all in good fun so I'm fine to let things go most of the time.

LM i wasnt calling him a wanker its was the doctors diagnosis lol

I'll have a go at someone. The blokes who decided to play a trial match instead of a cricket match. If it's a league club and you've known all season (we had a couple lads in that position) then I can understand. But for an amatuer club, especially if it's the same club you play cricket for (I don't know if that's the case here, but I recall that happening at Salisbury West one day) then it's a disgrace. If the footy club aren't going to allow blokes the trial game off to play cricket finals then they can't complain when the blokes who enjoy cricket more opt out of footy finals for a cricket trial match.

It's a total disgrace you can play all season then let your whole club down by doing something that pathetic and I bet with no warning until the week of the game. I bet even the OTH lads are peeved because they only just missed out on the spot your guys ended up with.

Going back a few years ago we were playing Eastern Park in a semi, they pleaded with me to let them bat first as they wanted to play in a footy trial. They won the toss, danced around flapping their arms like wings and got all out for under 30. Game was over within an hour on day 1.
They got to play in their footy trial and so did our opening bowler who busted his shoulder and missed the granny.

yep didnt leave us much options, im also led to believe that if they were told they couldnt play football trial games that they were going to chose to watch the football instead of playing cricket.

alot of unhappy people about it at Eastern Park and more than a few people have said the players who chose not to play should fork up to pay for the fine, doubt this will happen though.

I just cant wait to next season when these same blokes come looking for something to do in summer.

Fine them their portion of the forfeit fee, then refuse to clear them until they pay it. Or if you decide to let them play for you again, make them pay it before they are available for selection.

If they just refuse to pay at all, then they can just sit out a year of cricket.

I suspected as much, but I wasn't going to assume anything. Different clubs have different ways of dealing with things like that.

Wonder if he will actually rock up tonight.

Probably not cause he lives in whoop whoop, but they should force him to come down or throw the charges out.

If a player doesn't rock up to a tribunal, they always get dicked.

We appealed Marty Ryans decision and i dont know if the PDCA executives mentioned it to use or not

BUT

you need to bring in new evidence otherwise your appeal is instantly dismissed, meaning duane cant just go in there saying he feels the punishment is to harsh and that they should remove it. you need someone who hasnt been seen by the tribunal backing his side and the lack of seriousness of his offence.

Don wont be expected to be at the tribunal tonight.
