Too old, too slow, too good. Hoping to trot that line out many times this year.

I don't understand how people think Geelong will begin to slide down the ladder this season.

Watching last night and looking at the team and looking at some of the players they have- Johnson, Varcoe, Kelly, Corey, Mackie, Taylor, Enright, Scarlett, Bartel ,Selwood, Wojcinski- Gellong are still an incredibly strong side with great players across all lines and with names like them and the qualitily that's there I just don't see them starting to slide as such.

They're not just going to give up and say that they're too old and they've had their time in the limelight, they'll keep on giving qualitly performances we've come to expect from them.

Good teams find a way to win and that's what Geelong did last night. Full of merit and should be in the top 4 teams at the end of the season.

This is a great point. Arguably their 3 best players out and they beat last year's runners up. Great win.

add the J-POD - he is on the border of being in the starting 18, and he wouldve been handy up forward last night

I really do enjoy watching Taylor Hunt and Mitch Duncan. Guthrie was ok in patches and he will only get better.

not a genuine flag hope this year but i hope the kids keep developing for another serious crack in a year and 3

I included Ablett in my 3 best players from last year's team. I forgot about the J-Pod.

Mitch Duncan goes alright I reckon.

Why not? We aren't the favourite obviously but we'll get much better than we were last night. If we get to September with a minimal amount of injuries to key players then we can in it again. We are a bigger chance in 2011 than we will be in 2014.

Great pressure on the ball carrier all night, hence why both sides struggled up forward. Both sides could have used a 2nd marking option. Podsiadly would have been a big help for Mooney and Kosi was watching from the stands as Riewoldt got double-teamed at nearly every contest.

Agree MT. And the Saints (contradiction in terms) will be on the slide too. They'll be top 6, but not worry the Pies IMO.

The 25 or 26 game winning streak back to 2007 at the Cattery has me thinking.

In 2008, would they have played Hawthorn, St.Kilda, Bulldogs or Collingwood there?

In 2009, would they have played Hawthorn, St.Kilda, Bulldogs or Collingwood there?

In 2010, would they etc etc.

Im doubting they would have with the smaller ground capacity, so, does it make the "record" a little (sleepy) hollow if they only get the "lesser" teams there?

Brisbane, previous holders to this "record" would have played Port,WCE, Sydney and Collingwood in 02,03,04 at the 'Gabba.

Every team that plays Geelong is a lesser team Booney. I would love it if the good teams came to Cat Park but if we did that we'd end up as broke as Port or the Bulldogs. For the record we did play the Bullies there in 2008 and they had hardly dropped a game up to that stage. Another brick in the wall my friend....

Booney this is almost a Bay 13 type comment. Shame on you!

He is pretty spot on though and I agree with what he is saying.

Does anybody have a list of the teams they have played in this winning streak?
