Understood, Ronnie, I wasn't having a go at you re Adams. Could have phrased it better.

It's interesting that many Liberal bloggers think that the media is pro-Labor! Even the ABC now has gone very right-wing since John Howard stacked the Board.

You mention David Marr, who is a left-winger (and who I don't like much), but between us I doubt we could name too many more obvious left-wing media commentators.

On the other hand, the list of right-wingers is long and even the list of rabid right-wing shock jocks is far bigger than the sum total of even slightly left-wing media people.

Ronnie, who would you classify as left-wing media?

Yes you were. You just feel bad because you mistook Ronnie's statement. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that. You have a go at everyone who has a differing opinion from you. :)
So you've seen everything have you?

You're always good for a laugh, BC.

Seeing that your rare contributions to the Politics threads are usually just to personally attack me or say something is a crap thread, I'll take it as a compliment that you don't have any reasonable political discussion to offer.

I'm impressed, though, that you think you know my mind better than me.

You don't, of course.

I meant what I said. I thought Ronnie's post was good and his reply didn't take any offence to mine, as there wasn't any, if you read it again. He made it clear that he was having a bit of a laugh, as was I, about Phillip Adams.

I was just making that clear. I didn't need to, but I thought it was polite to do so.

On Sunday, Bolt was scathing about Kevin Rudd for asking the Japanese for information about their nuclear reactors.

"He must resign", said Bolt, "he's a disgrace".

You know how wrong it was when this has to be written.

We'll never get Bolt to admit it, of course.

I don't know what is more amusing, Mr Bolt or the people who demonise him? The guy is laughing all the way to the bank as a result of the righteous (or should that be leftigious) indignation, this is the oxygen that pays his salary and keeps him in the papers and on the box.

"A task for keen-eyed readers":

I have a challenge for all of you this afternoon, it’s kind of a word game. I’d like you all to try to identify the “hateful rhetoric”* in the following paragraph:

As a climate champion, you know what we’re up against. Ultra-rightwing politicians, millionaire radio shock-jocks and corporate polluter lobbyists are trying to engineer a dangerous lie – that Australians are mobilised against climate action.

Bonus points if you can figure out which bit is “the language of hatred and fear” or where it says that “No one, according to GetUp, can have an alternative view on man-made warming without being corrupt or a neo-Nazi.”

This is a serious challenge, because according to the Herald Sun’s resident linguistics expert, Andrew Bolt, “If GetUp keeps up this hateful rhetoric, someone might get hurt”.

You're right about his salary, mick, but it's the readers who follow him who pay most his salary, apart from those opponents who click on his blog.

You're right to that extent, but it pretty well sums up the morality of much of the media.

The good news is that the established media is fighting a losing battle against the blogosphere. They're not used to people who have good political knowledge pointing out their many mistakes.

Good article by Mr Bolt today. Very thought provoking on the future of the children from the underclass.

A mate of mine is completely obsessed with Miranda Devine - and to a lesser degree Janet Albrechtson.

Says he hates her with a passion but follows her religiously.

Articles, tweets, TV appearances, he's all over it.

Just know he'd love to be the lettuce (he's a Green-voting vegan) in a Miranda/Janet sandwich.

Myself, I find the likes of Bolt, Akerman, Adams and Carleton all incredible bores...

Apparently some Aboriginal people in our society aren't Aboriginal enough for our Andrew.

Hmmm, I tend to agree with what Bernard Keane has stated on the matter - that this case is an attack on free speech.

It has nothing all to do with free speech, and everything to do with slander and defamation. Bolt's grabbing at the "free speech" arguement now that someone has finally stood to him.
If I say XYZ is an idiot....that is free speech.
If I say XYZ is an idiot, who got where they did on the backs of others, and taking money that didn't belong to him ...that is slander.

I tend to agree with LL on this. We don't have free speech in this country unlike the US and we're a much better country for it. Even if he hasn't technically broken any laws his employer (Ltd News) still shouldn't allow him to put up stuff like this. If he had his own personal blog that's one thing but not on an official News Ltd blog.

I dare say if some regular person had have made a comment like this on a News Ltd article it wouldn't have been allowed to go up.
