What are you doing for Easter??

Postby Bum Crack » Thu Apr 14, 2011 11:18 am

I was just wondering, with the high river in the Riverland at the moment, how many people that would normally camp here over Easter, will not be making the trip up this year? What is everyone else doing over Easter? I'll be staying here and getting out in the boat as much as I can and probably be drinking copious amounts of the amber fluid.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

My family and I go up to a patch of scrub in the mallee and drop off the map for a few days.

Middle of nowhere, don't have to share it with anyone. Out of phone coverage. Close enough to Pinnaroo to duck in and replenish the ice stocks. Bloody brilliant.

Can. Not. Wait. :D

Driving up to Coober Pedy to see family for a few days, will probably head out to the Breakways for a look while I'm there.

No plans, but may invite some friends to a BBQ on the Monday.
( I'd better make up my mind this weekend.)

We normally go camping at a friends 'block' - pretty much like what GN says - no TV - no radio - no nothing - just a heap of people and each others company with camp fires and the likes.

However - not doing that this year - have to take next week off work for other commitments - so am working over easter (to catch up the work) this year *sigh*

Friday: Housewarming Show (beers)
Saturday: Salisbury FC Oakbank Day (beers)
Sunday: Something with the family (beers)
Monday: ANZAC Dawn Service at Salisbury RSL, then beers at the footy club with Collingwood/Essendon on the big screen
Tuesday: Recovering

I'm also getting the keys to my new house tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have to do some unpacking or some work at some point, will try to keep myself as busy (out of the house) as possible though.

Nah, it's just a patch of mallee scrub on the Peebinga side of Pinnaroo.

It's just some bloke's property that he inherited but doesn't use as far as I know. My uncle lives up there and teed it up with the bloke a few years back.

Yes - well with a baby on the way this will probably be the last time we can do the full weekend for a few years. Not looking forward to missing out next year. :(

If you do it right you can make Easter feel like a couple weeks holiday I reckon. Nothing recharges the batteries like dropping out of civilisation for a few days IMO.

So true O:)

The only 'down' being - it's really time consuming when you get back to civilisation and you have pages and pages of safooty.net and facebook to go through

Making the trip to Smoky Bay on Thursday night after work, come back on Tuesday. Be the fourth time I've been there this year alone. Gotta love the travel. Might catch a fish or two as well. ;)

Set up an easter eggs hunt for the kids in the new place. Backyard is twice the size of the old place so will have many more hiding spots ;)

Then up to visit my mum who holidays each year at the Nuri Caravan Park and have a dob of the footy with the eldest lad on that fantastic oval...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
