I agree with Mal, the amount of mindless insignificant garbish waste of space stories about AFL is astonishing.
As for their coverage of the Interdomion, well it was on a par with their coverage of Te Awamutu greyhounds & Wagin trots.

For the Record, the Aussie pacers SMASHED the Kiwis last night, The Mighty Quinn & Smoken Up winning the 2 heats EASILY.

Please note
The multis have all changed again for todays GDP meeing
ED 2/3 IS NOW 3/4
TREB 5/6/7 NOW 6/7/8
DD 6/7 NOW 7/8
QUAD 4/5/6/7 NOW 5/6/7/8

Those who studied off the harness site have wasted thier time
For those like me who who sat up last night working out thier multi bets, we have to re do them all over again

It reminds me of 2 songs
Chhhhhhhhanges David Bowie
Communication Johnny Farnham

Point being does Unitab inform harness org of these chhhanges ?

any reason for the change mentioned in todays paper that the horse drawn 7 will now follow the horse drawn 2 out in mobile starts?

over the last couple of years we have seen the change from 6off the front and 4 off the back to 7 and 3, then back to 6 and 4
the 7 used to follow out between the 1 and 2, then behind the 1 now behind the 2

why do these continually get fiddled around with this but point blank refuse to change the 'standing' starts?

MASSIVE advantage for the 7 horse now, as the driver now has the choice of trailing the pole horse or staying 1 off in the running line. 1st time i've seen this been tried and i actually think it may be a good thing.
I suppose the dicking around with different starting procedures over the years has been an attempt to find the best one for all concerned.

i see it as a terrible thing - why should 1 horse out of the field get the choice where they want to be? no other horse has the option of picking their position

Admission Prices......well it's now $7.00 to get into the trots (up $2.00) & the racebooks have gone up to $3.50 (up $0.50) & now while i know it is the first price rise in many years i feel it will make even less people go as some mentioned last night, i'd presume this is a peter smith idea as this also happened at the dogs when he first started there (went from $4.00 to $6.00)....now i can print off the form at home, bet on all accounts (all 3 tabs, tatts which has fixed odds on albion park which you don't get oncourse, corporates & betfair) at home,..............so if i stay home i can have more options for my punting dollar & can get 2 lots of chicken & chips & a gravy or 2 pizzas for littlebayman & myself for the money saved with petrol & admittance etc if driving to gdp

One of the most loyal on course Trotting enthusiasts is now considering becoming a stay at home punter
The $5 to $7 is baffling for the new admission as the Bayman has posted
Even more baffling when it is FREE admission on Monday and Friday nights at GDP

Congratulations to the club on bleeding a few extra dollars from a aging generation of punters who still attend
Is there a future as these elderly punters die off ?
Charging the surviving ones another $2 might be a short term solution
But what then ?
Do you charge the 53 people who are still going in 2027 an admission of $75 each ?

Will a new generation of younger people be prepared to pay $7 on a consistent basis ?
What are they getting for their $$
A:An on course bookie with accurate odds for the Multi and Exotic Players is one advantage of rolling up
B: Seeing the horses parading and seeing the racing live
But what else ?
C: ??????????
Im trying to think of a C reason to roll up,
I can only think of Pilkos pies and pasties ...

i think if tatts start to go with fixed odds on the globe meetings there will be zero reason to attend, all charging entry does is reduce my purse for the meeting

For anyone reading this thread :
Bayman and MAYZ are 2 of the most dedicated on course attenders at GDP
Both are now threatening to boycott future GDP Saturday meetings
The $2 increase is an insult to them
The club needs to take care of loyal guys like these 2 not pinch another gold coin of them

To justify a $2 increase then the club needs to provide MORE value for money
I will reserve judgement on that happening
If the club does nothing more , then they aperhaps last strawing the loyalists who have supported the club

To put things in perspective
Bayman[or anyone else] goes to about 40 Saturday night meetings
If he continues that, its $80 extra for the club in admissions
If Bayman does not go they missout on the $400 he has paid at $5

The $80 is perplexing
The club makes about 10% commission on bets on the on course tote
So when Bayman invests $800 in bets the club gets that $80 back
He is capable the way he bets, of doing that in 1 meeting !!!
So why jeopardise that by slugging Bayman and others a meaningless extra $2 to attend ?

Whinge, whinge F**KING whinge.
It's been well documented in the past the lack of incentive for the punter to go to the trots anymore (also the gallops & dogs).
15, 20, 25 years ago you had to be on course if you took your punting seriously. I NEVER missed a meeting back then but these days i might only go a few days a year now and i dont know why i do that as betting from home is 500 times better than being on course.
In regaurd to the $2 admission fee increase, i agree it's rather pointless as has been documented but it's been $5 since as long as i can remember so i dont see it as an issue. I've been to quite a few country Vic tracks over the years and they all charged more than $5 and most dont even have a bookie there.
I remember having to pay for car parking at GDP.
I dont go anymore bcos there's just no point from a punters point of view NOT bcos what the charge to get in is.
As for the race book increase, maybe they have to, to cover costs ?
;)

jj, the racebook increase i agree it'd be to cover costs, i even understand the increase in meals that they've just had, so what i was saying while the $2.00 price rise is only a gold coin & it hasn't gone up since the late 1980's or early 1990's the fact is i get less information & facilities to bet with on course than i do off course (apart from if cheify & others come upstairs from the stalls & says this or that ''might have'' ;) the lead tonight & then it is very worthwhile, so in saying that there should be betfair oncourse with the club having an account & getting some extra kickback from betfair, tatts having screens showing their fixed odds markets & machines capable of taking those bets & obviously there is no chance in hell to have 3 tabs there  .....just a thought

CHANGE TO STRATHALBYN RACES ON 12 JUNE
The Strathalbyn Harness Racing Club has decided to move its race meeting on Sunday 12 June from Strathalbyn to Globe Derby Park.
Originally the meeting was listed to be a joint meeting with the greyhounds. However due to the cancellation of the race meeting by greyhounds, it was felt that it would be in the Club’s and the industry’s best interests to transfer the meeting to Globe Derby Park.
The meeting will now be a twilight fixture commencing at approximately 4:30pm and will be telecasted on Sky Racing 1.
