TOWN/NIGHTLIFE GURUS

Postby hearts on fire » Thu May 12, 2011 9:19 pm

Hello there,

I lost my drivers license, phone and wallet in a disastrous act of drunken stupidity last week so i am without ID at the moment.

What ID do you need on you when entering a club or pub?

I have a student ID and a P's permit slip (that lil piece of paper before they give you your card), but not drivers license card yet, as it is being sent out.

cheers.

Ahhhh HOF, all grown up!

I don't reckon student ID will help you, bruz. I reckon you need to have your driver's license.
I didn't have my license when I started going out, so I had a proof of age card!
Maybe things have changed since my day.

Speaking of which, it's time to have a cuppa and go to bed ;)
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

HOF you are screwed without that actual licence!
Every place I have "heard of" require it. (And they try everywhere in town)
They even do not accept the licence with an error eg DOB198
(So they are at least 20 yo?)

Drivers license needs to be the proper one- an expired license works (i use my old l's that haven't been valid since 2008) so if you have an old learners or p's floating around that'll work...
proof of age still works if ya have one...

only other one is a passport, but don't carry that round when you're on the gas... could end up on a plane somewhere... ;)

as MP said only a passport will work other than a proof of age card. I have had friends from overseas be rejected for entry because the security guard is too dumb to recognised it as an international Drivers license.

having said that I have never seen anyone asked for ID if you get to a venue before the security clocks on for the night....... so pick a pub, get there early and stay there!

Dude, take your Sony Walkman in and show them the awesome cassettes you listen too, and they'll let you in as they'll think you're way older then 18.....

I find these to be more dangerous. I planned one of those a few weeks back I just dropped in to a mates house for a couple of quiet drinks on a Saturday night. The next thing I know we are ordering 'Adult Themed' entertainment and things got out of hand pretty quickly

Well the mum in me says "Actions = consequences" !!! [-x

lol.

I have a student ID and a P's permit slip (that lil piece of paper before they give you your card), but not drivers license card yet, as it is being sent out.

cheers.

I just asked the newest 'expert' in our house - my 18 year old daughter pretty much said - no drivers licence no entry.
She said you could try your student ID and plead your case.
And adding to that - surely if you turned up with your student ID plus say Birth Certificate and story - they'd let you in ?? :-??

PS: Wouldn't hold you breath about the licence coming tomorrow.

Goodluck !! O:)

haha mum you are so wise but surely there is an easier way not everyone has a drivers license...

is your daughter single ;) naa yea surely they would let me if i done that, but some of the security are real pricks so would not surprise me if they didn't allow it.

Im not expecting my license to turn up tomorrow but i am praying as we speak, what a fairytale it would be if it turned up :D

LOL HOF - yes she does happen to be single...lol.

Are you planning on going anywhere in particular?
You're right - from what I hear some places are more picky than others.
Apparantly student ID cards are easily 'manipulated' that's why they don't normally accept them.

Why you young ones want to go to 'town' is beyond me.
When she goes to 'town' I can't sleep till she gets home.
