They may have 300m to spend but if they change the entire squad around again next year they will end up in exactly the same spot. Players need time to gel together and understand eachother and how the manager wants to play. This City team already has the talent and depth to win the title but they wont have a foundation to build from, if as usual they change manager and half the squad.

look at United, had the same manager for over 20 years, keep the same core group of players with a few quality additions and they are competitive every single season.

a champion team will always beat a team of champions.

i have always said that. But when you have a team that is already starting to gel all you need is a few more quality players and you will be right

The only thing that goes against that, is when Roman and Mourinho landed at Stamford Bridge and were instant champions

i think that was just good timing for mourhino there CP. They were on a roll with drogba at his best and anelka back to his greatness like he was when he played at Arsenal. And Lampard on top of his game. Was just a great team for their back to back EPL.

Also i hate to say it but cashley cole was in the best form of his life when he left Arsenal and joined Chelski

Good timing = Huge chequebook buying anyone and everyone IMHO .. I dont even think Anelka was there at the time, but the other awesome players were all bought IIRC.

Good luck to them, but I wouldn't be so hasty in writing Man City off from eventually doing similar (although I do think money cant buy culture and that will be their biggest hurdle IMHO)

im sure anelka went there the first year or the january transfer window in mourhinos first season as he was at bolton at they were struggling. Anyway that Chelsea side that he had whether it was money or just timing had no weak positions or players. Like our side for the 03/04 season no weaknesses in that team

Possession 74% to United but Backburn have parked the bus.

Very difficult to defend against United for 90 mins
