well i just taught my yr 8 english class and you can guess what the topic of discussion was instead of thier work, everywhere that they can plank. Couldn't change the topic so decided to run with it and ended up "planking" on a table. so very stupid but it is definitely flavour of the week.

Similar thing happened in my sons (year 11) class yesterday.

He came home and posted a picture of himself 'planking' on chairs in the classroom.

I said "Where was teacher?"
A sons reply "Watching"

I suppose it is topic of conversation so teachers may as well use it as a tool to try and encourage 'safe planking' ...lol

Plenty wrong with it but thought it would be a good opportunity to demonstrate how stupid it all really is. guess i will see in the next couple of days. The typo in my first post might have something to do with it as well.

There was no mention of wearing a helmet while planking. Clearly the events of the past few days have taught you and as a result, your class, nothing.

On a bird's facebook page just now, and allegedly someone has been planking on a moving car, and are in a serious way in hospital.

Planking isn't silly, it's just a craze.

It's the people that are planking in silly locations/circumstances that make it seem so bad.

I planked in my mum's spa, I'm going to plank around my work a bit tomorrow- these things might be juvenile, but they don't rate a mention- seven stories up, moving car... it's the minority ruining it for the masses.

People try to outdo each other, that's why these planks in dangerous situations come up. Otherwise, why plank at all? You look like a dickhead to start with, and even more of a dickhead when you place yourself in danger. Of the latter type, I just hope they haven't had any children yet. Or plan to.

I agree spelly. Its all totally ridiculous, and the only beneficiaries of the craze will be the people compiling the Darwin Awards.

I do feel for the families of these people but they are clearly not a gret loss to the gene pool. You see and hear of tragedies every day but people losing their lives because of this crap is just their own stupid fault. They are responssible for their own fate and for what exactly? What was the ideal outcome for them?
