It's the money they need. Now, and now. Upfront and immediately. What gets me is that apparently this and the forest (3 forward cycles) sales are not privatisation. Nor is selling crown land to pay for redevelopment - eg Glenside and the Largs Police Academy.
I'm also waiting for someone to ask when it is OK to make election and budget promises, and then "defer" them. There is a lot of that happening lately. I understand the financial predicament but surely you fulfil one lot of promises before making new ones? I'm thinking of the new prison, the QEH upgrade, the tram extension to the Port (IIRC), the 2.5% wage cap for all public service employees that has now been overlooked for special people who are deemed to be worthy of 15% or 17%, for example; Funnily enough, taxpayers are still paying for Bernard Finnegan's political staff because he walked and no one has replaced him.
