Probably nothing MP. Our so-called "League" is a toothless tiger. Pres is too busy selling himself to the media, not to mention not wanting to offend a huge sponsor such as Cally's "Hillgrove". Sorry to sound cynical, but that's the way it is. Any information to the contrary gladly accepted.

Complete grabage. If the report is followed through correctly by the umpires or one of the clubs the matter will be dealt with accordingly by a panel that does not include the President. I have been through the process and it is a fair one.
Crumber, are you a comittee member of your club who would should be aware of the process, or someone on the outside who only criticises because they don't know the procedures?

Talk about people in glass houses...
Im not condoning any supporter hitting a player thats just not on - however lets be honest Birdwood are arguably the most ferral supporter base in the league and i can only imagine the bate this supporter had to put up with before snapping and even more of a solid argument they are the dirtiest team or atleast on an even par with Gum...

Sorry to offend you AF (and anyone else). I could have worded my comment more appropriately. It was posted out of sheer frustration after having known several players and spectators who have been on the receiving end of Callington's misdemeanors on and off the field over the years. One is entitled to lose faith in the system, but it isn't an excuse for angry posts I guess. I and others just wish it wouldn't keep happening. I'm totally aware of the process and procedures, after three decades as a club official. It would be good if the results of Tribunal happenings could be publicised instead of being hidden. That way, we could all be confident that justice is being done instead of worrying that offending thugs and their clubs remain on the loose without penalty.

Thank you for your comments Breezer, it's nice to know that there are a few level headed people that can view incidences like this with an objective view from both sides.
As an official of the club, I'd like to clarify that we too take these matters very seriously, and by no means condone this behaviour. As far as the tribunal goes, I can say that the players who have committed an offence have been duely punished, and the club supports their rulings 100%. The player involved in the incident at Kersbrook, not only recieved just punishment from the tribunal, but was also asked to leave the club.
While we try to rebuild, we are currently in a position to give players willing to play the benefit of the doubt, but if they do show they cannot behave in a manner befitting, then like any other club, we will ask them to leave. While we have taken on a few players that have proven to not be in our best interests, we have also managed to pick up many more players that are proving to be great assets to the club.
The thing that gets me is that most seem quick to judge us and our players, but they don't take any time to consider the bigger picture. While a lot of these guys don't like to back down when provoked, I have not seen a single incident where they have instigated it. Before taking it out on us, consider looking at the behaviour of your own players and supporters. Our senior players are all quite disheartened at the moment due to the contstant barrage of abuse they recieve from players and supporters of certain clubs, this being the case with the incidents with Birdwood and Kersbrook. While these boys did loose their cool and react, they certainly did not do it unprovoked.
We know we are not in a good competitive position at the moment, but we are working hard on this. We can accept the loses we recieve, all we ask for is a little respect, and not to have to be abused everywhere we go, simply for not being good enough.
Hats off to the Echunga boys who came up a few weeks ago. Both teams knew coming into the game what the results would be, but both teams played with mutual respect and the result was a very fair and clean game enjoyed by both sides. All we ask is that clubs show us a little curtesy, and we will happily show it in return.
Even with the events of this past weekend, we as a club have no issue with Birdwood, the incidents were over the behaviour of a select few players and supporters. The club as a whole were well behaved, and it was a pleasure to see so many come out and have an otherwise good day.

I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt mate cos you sound like a reasonable bloke, but you obviously haven't been at Callinton long.
This sort of crap has been going on there for years, it is not a new thing. About 7 years ago 2 Birdwood players were assaulted in an off the ball incident. One was left with serious concussion an the other a $10 000 dental bill.
I can also recall another occasion where a parent of a player received a lengthy ban after an incident.
It's one thing to lose your cool and react, players do it all the time. They don't belt supporters though.
As far as respect goes, you've got to show it before you can get it.

Obvious history there!
As a supporter of two teams Central and County over the time we have been going out to Callington I have not witnessed this as a systemic issue, yes individuals have been offenders and a certain Under age Star they had "who could have been anything" just lost it on occasions.![]()
I even remember the current B Grade coach as having a few "issues" but solely on the field. Yes we have had issues off field with stuff going missing but that happens at some of the Country clubs.
I have seen just as bad (in fact worse) from three clubs in Country over the years particularly in juniors.![]()
Also let me say some mums could not believe the trip to the newcomer this year in central!
I also believe they will suffer badly in the return games from the established central clubs as that sort of thing has long been rubbed out in Central, but as u guys know, we remember. (all done fairly of course)
