Definately seems like the snake pit is a much happier place since stringer departed. Noticed their C's had an impressive win against Valley. More players making themselves available in all grades perhaps?

Think the C grade win has more to do with the super coach that's has taken over since stringer has left.. i was at the valley game and his speechs were inspirational..

last quarter at the Cove must have been a fair sort of slog ----- scores for term Cove 0-2, Valley 0-1 ---- stretching their lead from one point to two points.

Looks like it was a close round of matches on the weekend, assuming weather playing a part perhaps?

Reynella just taking the points over Porties, are Porties in the mix to go deep into september?
Twisties over the Bushpigs, perhaps the biggest upset?
Cove starting to look good as predicted by some in preseason, how far can they go?
Shoes kick back against Morphies at Morphies with quite a few more scoring shots, after loosing to Flagstaff in thier last game so where do they sit?

It would look like the Ladder is starting to give a fair indication of where sides are at. Its shaping to be tight finish for the top four this year with most teams still in the mix and games between the top teams in coming months will tell the story.

Will probably see the closest finals series in years this year with any of the sides in the 8 capable of beating or pushing any of the sides in the 4.

Top 8 prediction -

Reynella
Brighton
Noarlunga
Morphett Vale
Cove
Happy Valley
Flagstaff Hill
Port Noarlunga

There will certainly be some more than competitive 2nd round of finals. Even those first rounders are nothing like what we have seen in the past and games could go either way.

The "B's" comp is a lot closer than it looks. Brighton (top) 2pts ahead but have had only one bye. The Shoes (second) and Flaggies (third) have had two byes, so really it is percentage separating them. All have lost only one game. Brighton and Flaggies play this coming weekend, but after that Flaggies have a much easier draw (on paper) than the Shoes. Those three teams have lead the field all year and look like they will fight it out. Flaggies beat the Shoes by 30 pts a fortnight ago.

Still think brightons best is a class above, but the rest you could throw a blanket over. Flaggies lost to MVale, who were nowhere near the shoes on the weekend. Reynella are always dangerous, as are cove, but Valley seemed to have dropped off a little this year. Where each team finishes on the ladder will have a bigger influence on the finals series than previously. It wont be as easy to come from the bottom half of the 8 this year.

Gee Noarlunga and Flagstaff certainly are going gangbusters this year thats for sure,
Showing the depth with both As and Bs in the 8 and both taking big scalps that they havent taken in a long time.
In the A's I think they have both broken a 10 or so game losing streak to the emus.

Definately gonna be a great final series with the seasoned "performers" in the finals in recent years such as Reynella, Brighton, Morphett Vale, Cove against a new breed of real contenders in Noarlunga, Flaggies, Valley, and Porties.

There have been some blowouts amoung these teams but just when you think a side is sliding they upset and get a win against a side you dont expect. will be great come finals time... BRING ON SEPTEMBER!!!!!

Fisho's tips for the weekend:

Brighton v Flaggies Bushpigs in an upset, 8 points. Game of the round.
Christies v Reynella arsekicking
Valley v Marion arsekicking
Morphy Park v Cove Cove by 7 goals
Shoes v Aldinga - They will win, but not by as much as they reckon they will.
Lonsdale v Morphett Vale - 5 goals. Lonsdale seem to do well against them.
Porties v Hackham arsekicking

This is all speculation of course, but in their shoes (ha! unintentional pun, excuse me while I go pat myself on the back :D ) I'd be expecting at least a 20 goal win over Aldinga. What's the oval looking like out there, SB?

Heard Big Seb and another M/park player have pulled out of the state country championships. Also notice that Morphy Park have Cove this week followed by Hackham and Marion which means the 2 week suspension wont hurt Morphy Parks.

If Parks do knock off Cove this week it could prove a great move that gets them into the finals.

Wonder if Parks have compensated the boys for taking the 2 match suspension ;)

Maybe the SFL can put the investigation hearing off until the first week of finals then suspend the two.

According to regulation 21 of the SFL constitution the coach can also get suspended the club fined and more importantly the club can lose 2 points if they win.

Hope the SFL are tough enough to enact these penalties. Some would call this a P### pour act.

Seems even more convenient considering Ramsey and Vick are playing in the carnival. Definetely some experience between those 2 missing this week. Will be a good test for the young blokes at the pastie on Saturday.

Going abit too far there vics01, what if the players simply did not want to play (even if it was money related)? Why should the club be held responsible?

Hey even if they were put up to it good luck proving that was the case. Take the 2 matches and play on i say - in previous years the 2 match suspension was not even enforced.

Can anyone tell me how M. Clifton is travelling at Hackham U18's? I have heard nothing but praise for what he is doing there or is someone just blowing smoke up my pipe.
