Heard Big Seb and another M/park player have pulled out of the state country championships. Also notice that Morphy Park have Cove this week followed by Hackham and Marion which means the 2 week suspension wont hurt Morphy Parks.

If Parks do knock off Cove this week it could prove a great move that gets them into the finals.

Wonder if Parks have compensated the boys for taking the 2 match suspension

Maybe the SFL can put the investigation hearing off until the first week of finals then suspend the two.

According to regulation 21 of the SFL constitution the coach can also get suspended the club fined and more importantly the club can lose 2 points if they win.

Hope the SFL are tough enough to enact these penalties. Some would call this a P### pour act.

Going abit too far there vics01, what if the players simply did not want to play (even if it was money related)? Why should the club be held responsible?

Hey even if they were put up to it good luck proving that was the case. Take the 2 matches and play on i say - in previous years the 2 match suspension was not even enforced.

I understand that under the Community Football Board Constitution that the players can be fined $500 for not participating in the Southern Districts Game.

If this story is true, this is a watershed moment for the SFL Board. They need to be strong and apply the full weight of the SFL and Community Football regulations to the players and the club. If they don't it could be an embarrassment next year when they can't field and association side or have any representatives in the Southern District Team because the clubs refuse to send their players.

Travis Tedmanson was suspended for two games a couple of seasons ago after giving 5 years of service to the District side and association football .He was carrying and injury and also had work commitments that saturday morning. Still the only one copped this when many others pulled out. he lasted only 1/2 game against Cove and come off injured So there has ben a case.

Morphie park will still lose they are clutching at straws trying to hold onto a season which never began. Even without vick and Ramsey the cove will be a ten goal better side.. I think the roo boys should just admit they are not good enough and don't deserve a spot in the top 8..

the championships are run by the juggernaut Community Football Board. A law unto themselves I suspect

This is all speculation of course, but in their shoes (ha! unintentional pun, excuse me while I go pat myself on the back ) I'd be expecting at least a 20 goal win over Aldinga. What's the oval looking like out there, SB?

Just read on Sporting Pulse that Western easily accounted for Southern Districts in the first game.

However at the bottom of the page it says: Southern Districts lost score for 19 players on field.

Southern were 9 pts up with three minutes to go and because they had 19 players on the field, their score was taken away from them and they kicked 2 points in those last three minutes, hence their score of 0-2

The "B's" comp is a lot closer than it looks. Brighton (top) 2pts ahead but have had only one bye. The Shoes (second) and Flaggies (third) have had two byes, so really it is percentage separating them. All have lost only one game. Brighton and Flaggies play this coming weekend, but after that Flaggies have a much easier draw (on paper) than the Shoes. Those three teams have lead the field all year and look like they will fight it out. Flaggies beat the Shoes by 30 pts a fortnight ago.

Still think brightons best is a class above, but the rest you could throw a blanket over. Flaggies lost to MVale, who were nowhere near the shoes on the weekend. Reynella are always dangerous, as are cove, but Valley seemed to have dropped off a little this year. Where each team finishes on the ladder will have a bigger influence on the finals series than previously. It wont be as easy to come from the bottom half of the 8 this year.

Flagstaff by 11 points in b grade. Maybe you shouldn't throw stones at others when they lose a tip axle especially if you plan on having an opinion yourself

Cant see anywhere in my post that i tipped brighton, but great win by the pigs none the less. Was that at brighton too? I actually hope there is a side who can challenge them during finals, and the pigs would be a popular challenger i reckon. The whole club is doing very well and is great to see them up and about. Mate, im so hopeless at tipping winners, if i did throw stones, they would probably hit me in the scone!

Brighton beat Flaggies by 8 pts in the A's with a goal after the siren. Was a good game considering the conditions ......... Brighton trying to take the title of "Pig Park?" Flaggies won all other grades so 4 -1 on the day to Flaggies at Brighton would be some sort of club record. As a side issue I noticed the two A grade umps looked pretty young but thought they did reasonably well in what was a very hard match to umpire due to conditions.

Well, Aldinga went down, but I think it's fair to say they acquitted themselves respectably. Can't remember the final scores - I think it was about a 12 goal margin, with Noarlunga running home with it in the last quarter - they'd led by about six goals for the majority of the game. Full credit to both sides; I thought they played their best footy the whole day. Aldinga was playing a very hard, body-to-body game as they did against Brighton a couple of weeks ago, but the Shoes kept their poise throughout and deserved the win. All in all a great game of football to watch.

You might remember a certain picture from last year; I thought it deserved a recycling, particularly after Golding's bag of ten today. So in gracious defeat, this one's for you SB:

Fisho You were correct in you prediction of Brighton V Flaggies being the match of the Round, and even correct with the 8pt margin, but it went Brighton's way not Flagstaff's (unfortunately for me)

Speaking to a trainer who was at the game he said that it happened straight after half time. At the first bounce one of the southern players realised that there were too many on the ground and ran for the interchange. Western saw him and called for the count. Player was off the ground when the count was called, but went back on when asked by the umpires and was included. Western were awarded a free kick in the goalsquare and Southern had their score zeroed (from 5-1), but the scoreboard wasn't corrected until after the game.
