Because no one wants to subject the public to North getting thrashed by Centrals!
Piss weak SANFL and the CLOWNS who run it.

Would hate to think it was because commentators want to watch the team they support play. It is a very strange decision. So much for being the saviours of the SANFL.

p.s. Who wants to go fishing this Saturday? ;)

Allow me to make this point VERY clearly.

No commentator for RPH or LifeFM or ABC TV for that matter has any say in the games that are allocated.

It is strictly between the SANFL and the management of the 3 stations.

Only once the games are allocated do commentators receive the roster.

My job with LifeFM is then to enure that games not on radio receive some coverage.
and on quite a few occassions this season LifeFM reporters and safooty.net have teamed up to give
live bloggs on this site which can then be relayed on air.

ie for this Saturday Central v North ... Phil Aspinall will be blogging live on this site which we will be updating on LifeFM
and we will be crossing to Phil at the end of each quarter.

It's not being the "saviour of the SANFL" but as a Woodville fan from wayback I understand the frustration of not being able to listen to a live broadcast of your team and we always try to provide the best coverage in the circumstances.

I said I would hate to think it was the commentators who picked the games. Thanks for the info regarding who picks the games Phil. Although now it has opened another can of worms. What benefit does LifeFM get in broadcasting the game that is being shown live on ABC? Maybe you can fill us uneducated in on the reasons LifeFM come to that decision.

I wish someone had archived the massively amusing dummy spit Wedgie had at Phil in the old Footy SA days about RPH's decision not to broadcast a game.

I think for a few glorious moments he might have even boycotted the site. At least with his main username. :D

Ahh memories ... have the same power selecting games then as I do now and still getting the blame for it, :(

From memory ... the boycott was the other way around ... Wedgie wanted everyone to boycott RPH until they sacked me and changed the game back. ... what do you remember Wedgie?

TSG ... In honest truth I can't answer your question ... My PERSONAL preference is always that every game receives coverage of some sort but this is not the first time this season the allocation has had two media outlets at one game and none at another.

Even last round we had two RADIO stations broadcasting Sturt v Glenelg, Friday Night @ Adelaide Oval and none at Woodville on Saturday.

John Nankivell, Phil Aspinall & I will always push LifeFM to allow us to do the hard yards with things like the State Game in Perth, Country Matches, Magarey Medal Broadcasts and Grand Final Pre Match but week by week its out of our hands.

My guess is that when presented with a choice of games to broadcast LifeFM thought Eagles v Glenelg was better than the other two. RPH then decided that Port v South was better than Central v North ... thats my GUESS.

Well thanks for trying to answer Phil. Just doesn't make a lick of sense to me. You would think there would be more listeners to a non televised game. :?

Here's an SANFL linked story:

This week's Football People yarn takes a look at junior development in Roxby Downs. West Adelaide FC's Andrew Marks tells of the club's role in mining young football talent.

This weeks ABC TV game is the West v Eagles contest at Richmond.

Will post the rest of the allocation shortly for the next 4 rounds.
