Yep. Perhaps the idea of travelling an extra 50km on your round trip discouraged a few.

Thats not what I hear bluestheboy but hearing both sides of the story I think justice was done. "Clearly stated" is correct

Whats the bet the MP boys will park their cars as close to the Wayback box and beep their horns
when Horgs tries to give instructions.
It happened to us last year when Semmler got a game.

If sides chose to listen to someone in the crowd Ken then there will always be some banter or unsportsmanship seen by the opposition. I dont think anyone at MP would be bright enough to think of doing it or own a car with a horn that works.
I would not be taking any risks and have Clarke at the helm directing traffic

Waybacks Doesn't matter who the "coach" is on paper, Horg's boys will get over the line. 1-39
Tasmans won't be a blow out, but they will be too good 40+
Marble Range to secure their finals spot 1-39

I'll do the scoreboard after the weekend, and I reckon DJD almost has the comp sewn up...

Gary Downey promoted in the media about abuse towards umpires will not be tollerated and it seems a couple of people chose not to abide and under the new laws 2 weeks holiday.
Let this be a lesson to you all that if you abuse an umpire that the tribunal have no choice but to give you 2 weeks now. You have been warned.
Who wants to go to the football and listen to players and coaches swear at umpires?
No verbal abuse or threatening tone was used. Clearly stated that he was dissapointed in their umpiring on the day.
The umpire report was word for word what RH said. Reported for misconduct...could have been much worse if your version was correct cu.

If he was that dissapointed BTB perhaps he should take up the whistle and get out there and show them how he thinks it should be done. With the ageing of most of
the panel umpires he might well be required by next season.

Maybe Richard might like to umpire a junior grade to see how difficult the job is Dermie

Dermie, didn't condone or agree with what happened and believe that justice was carried out. Just disputed CU's version of events.

CU & Dermie - RH was rostered to umpire a junior grade this weekend but unfortunately he is now unable to do this due to his suspension. Richard acknowledges he went about his complaint the wrong way but there was no abusive language used during his discussion with the umpires.

Did hear Tokas was rushed to hospital Monday night, haven't heard anything further. I hope all is well and wish him a speedy recovery.

Some interesting reading from the ABC website...

I've heard that a complaint has been lodged into Great Flinders, asking them to inquire into what paperwork was done for Shannon to play with the Blues.

It's raised some questions about our young EP lads having the chance to return from their Affiliated SANFL club - in Eyre Peninsula's case it's the Port Adelaide Magpies.

We know that when Eagles footballer Craig Fitzgerald returned to the Ramblers Magpies he had to fill in a form, but many believed that was due to him playing for a non-affiliated zone.

I was always told that if someone along the lines of a Mark "Froggy" Dolling returned from the Port Adelaide Magpies to his grass-roots club of Ramblers Magpies, that he could just come home and play, given that he's never been cleared to play for another team during his time with the Magpies.

But maybe not?

Reading the SANFL Rules and Regulations on their website I'm wondering if the question relates to section 13.1 Playing Without Clearance (SANFL League Clubs) which states: "A player desiring to transfer from an SANFL League Club to an Affiliated League Club must not play for the Affiliated League Club until such time as he has obtained a Clearance from the SANFL Club with which he was last registered and any transfer fee payable under the SANFL Regulations has been paid."

The Port Adelaide Magpies knew and encouraged Shannon to return home to play for his grass-roots club for a week or two to gain some game fitness. An SANFL club isn't going to want to try their luck at a 'returning from injury' player that isn't yet SANFL fit. So surely it's not just about Shannon, but about all 'returning from injury' SANFL footballers.

If this is now not allowed, what avenue is there for our SANFL footballers, still registered to their grass-roots clubs, to play for them when coming back from injury. Or is it allowed and are there new rules that mean paperwork now just has to be completed?

It will be interesting to see what the result is, as in section 12.2 it states that "A player who plays with a team of an Affiliated League Club without having first been granted the necessary Clearance or permit required under these Regulations will be liable to a fine of $1,000.00 and disqualification for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months."

But in Late Breaking News, Great Flinders Football League President Grant Beard says that the case with Shannon has all been cleared.

He says it was a "non-issue because Jay Shannon had never been cleared to play for another club apart from Tumby Bay".

President Beard says an interesting discussion was had where a lot was learnt.
