Yeah, going to tribunal tonight, the boys sat out of the Cove game as told to by the league, the SFL was ready to chuck everything at them if they played. Will be interesting to see what happens tonight.

Thats a fair penalty, what did he do to get that?

He bet $10 on Porties utility Travis Tedmanson to kick the first goal of the match...

Great response, but still interested to learn of the actual "crime". Can anyone assist?

He tried to grab the yellow card he was being shown out of the umpires hand and was reported for attempting to make contact with an umpire and was suspended for 7 weeks

Just as an outsiders observation, I think the penalty is right.
People might think that 7 games is over the top, but until players realise that the umpie is untouchable, more penalties of this magnitude should be handed out, both in seniors and especially juniors.
Our youth today have got ****all respect for anyone or anything & some of the crap happening in junior grades all over is deplorable to say the least.
No wonder I want my boys to be cricketers ;)

Unless there is a consistant message coming from the SFL to every club so each player knows what the consequences are when such an event happens, this sort of behaviour will repeat over time. Does every player know what happens at other games or clubs?

Maybe there needs to be a SFL code of conduct that each player gets when they pay subs and is signed (in presence of guardian if u18) to set a standard.

Just some thoughts...

Did any other clubs have to face the tribunal over players that didn't play in the southern districts team. Very keen to find out.

What do we expect when AFL commentators continually bag umpiring decisions. I also don't like bringing out segments highlighting ''biggest hits" etc and cameras focusing for extended periods on players down on the ground in obvious trouble.
I particular don't like the practise of AFL players running in to smash into an opposition player that has just missed a goal. What is that teaching our kids ?

What a year it has been for Flaggies!

Flagstaff Hill football captain Peter McMaster saves drowning boy at Marion Aquatic Centre

FLAGSTAFF Hill Football Club captain Peter McMaster brought a toddler back to life at the State Aquatic Centre at Marion last Tuesday.

McMaster, 24 was at the pool supervising children on vacation care when he noticed the young boy, aged about 2, floating limp in the water.

After dragging him from the shallow pool, McMaster provided CPR to the unresponsive child.

“I just reacted on instinct and jumped into the water,” McMaster said.

“His neck was in an awkward position and he was turning blue so I knew something was wrong immediately”.

McMaster unlocked the child’s jaw before performing life-saving mouth-to-mouth.

Sorry to change the subject, but I am working away in Horsham for a few months and I need to find a team to train with while Im here.
I am told that a fella by the name of David Johns is the coach and is originally from Adelaide. Can anyone confirm that this is the same guy who played for Happy Valley in the late 90`s (also brother of Ex Sturt league player Andrew Johns).??? He is about 36yo these days and is the local gun Full Forward up here and has a brother named Andrew. Coincedence???... Anyone know of if this is the same guy??? As an ex Happy Valley player myself it would be good to find out... Thanks.
