In the absence of the president, the vice president is in charge.

But if you read the constitution, where it relates to the J&P's of the executive it begs another question.

As above, in the absence of the President, the VP takes over.

But because the VP is mainly supposed to be in charge of junior football (not security like our current mate), in the absence of the VP, the assistant secretary (Junior football secretary) take over his duties.

So does that mean that if both Tokas and Dirty Harry (who has been unwell) are absent, then John Bell takes over, as the current assistant secretary?

Some interesting reading from the ABC website...

I've heard that a complaint has been lodged into Great Flinders, asking them to inquire into what paperwork was done for Shannon to play with the Blues.

It's raised some questions about our young EP lads having the chance to return from their Affiliated SANFL club - in Eyre Peninsula's case it's the Port Adelaide Magpies.

We know that when Eagles footballer Craig Fitzgerald returned to the Ramblers Magpies he had to fill in a form, but many believed that was due to him playing for a non-affiliated zone.

I was always told that if someone along the lines of a Mark "Froggy" Dolling returned from the Port Adelaide Magpies to his grass-roots club of Ramblers Magpies, that he could just come home and play, given that he's never been cleared to play for another team during his time with the Magpies.

But maybe not?

Reading the SANFL Rules and Regulations on their website I'm wondering if the question relates to section 13.1 Playing Without Clearance (SANFL League Clubs) which states: "A player desiring to transfer from an SANFL League Club to an Affiliated League Club must not play for the Affiliated League Club until such time as he has obtained a Clearance from the SANFL Club with which he was last registered and any transfer fee payable under the SANFL Regulations has been paid."

The Port Adelaide Magpies knew and encouraged Shannon to return home to play for his grass-roots club for a week or two to gain some game fitness. An SANFL club isn't going to want to try their luck at a 'returning from injury' player that isn't yet SANFL fit. So surely it's not just about Shannon, but about all 'returning from injury' SANFL footballers.

If this is now not allowed, what avenue is there for our SANFL footballers, still registered to their grass-roots clubs, to play for them when coming back from injury. Or is it allowed and are there new rules that mean paperwork now just has to be completed?

It will be interesting to see what the result is, as in section 12.2 it states that "A player who plays with a team of an Affiliated League Club without having first been granted the necessary Clearance or permit required under these Regulations will be liable to a fine of $1,000.00 and disqualification for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months."

But in Late Breaking News, Great Flinders Football League President Grant Beard says that the case with Shannon has all been cleared.

He says it was a "non-issue because Jay Shannon had never been cleared to play for another club apart from Tumby Bay".

President Beard says an interesting discussion was had where a lot was learnt.

So what exactly was the issue with Jay then? Port released him back to his local club as a) he is returning from injury and b) Port Adelaide had the bye. Are people upset that he played and Tumby won on the weekend with the assistance of a SANFL player???

SANFL clubs release listed players to their local clubs after their selection meetings after their main weekly training session (usually on a Wednesday). By Thursday morning the player is informed and given the opportunity to train with their local club if they wish. Port Adelaide had the bye on the weekend and the seniors were traveling to Perth for the Foxtel Cup semi final. I think a fair few of the returning injured/fringe players would have played locally on the weekend.

heater in relation to jay, there is no issue other then i believe the tumby club did't register him on footyweb which is a requirement. if you look at clubs clearances you will see for example cougars lochie paech destination sanfl (port adelaide). he is our player but he played for port for a week. anyway shit happens

Oh hell no... But as far as the constitution goes, those three gone would technically paralyse the league, although I think BJ or GN would take it upon themselves to run things.

correct heater, i only know this because it took us forever to find out and enter all our players and i am sure we would have forgotton someone. but tumby should have realized he was missing on the friday night when they do the team sheets online.

Bostons won by three points, great day, managed to do a noble thing and get another junior a senior game (over me), the two's and seventeens won, so a ripper day!

Loved every minute of it, three points, and even though Tassies were missing a dozen at least, you can only compete against the side the opposition puts out...

Watho was great for us at FF, gave us a target (although he didnt kick a goal) and the youngsters around him were front and sqaure and the tackling pressure was great in the forward half. Woody was a threat all day and a luxury to have him as a permanent forward.
Larry played his best A grade game, Corny showed some good signs playing further up the ground and lazy Jayden seemed to have a bit more of an apetite this week.
We should have won by more but for poor finishing and it was painful as we tried to get the sealing goal late in the game as we came so close so many times.
I thought Jack was clearly BOG today. He showed the true tiger spirit and controlled across half back, The whole backline was superb aagainst an insipid Tasman forward line. Tabe, Jacko, Copley, Sideshow and even an injured Marsh were all good.
Tasman forward line needs work - Frick over rated and was Wagner hungover?

What about when the siren went and Brett didint know wether to have a shot or throw the ball in the air

Tiger, Sticks didn't go too bad, took a few strong pack marks, kicked a goal, and if it wasn't for the greying hair, he wouldn't have looked out of place at all.

Bit harsh calling Jayden lazy, he was easy the best player in the third quarter, when the match could have gone either way.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe Bostons led from start to finish? That'd be a first for us in quite a long time.

BTW, Mallee def Wayback by 5 or 6 points.
