GWS Season 2012

Talk on the national game

Interesting comments by Jackson Trengove today on Twitter. His exact tweet was:

"Amazing night at Enrique Iglasia's concert, back stage and box seats unreal! off to watch South Sydney rabbitohs today #greatweekendwith27"

So it seems GWS are giving Jackson and and Bob the star treatment in an attempt to get them to sign. If they were taken to see GWS play yesterday it is also a bad sign as they beat top of the table Sydney Swans reserves by 64 points. The Rabbitohs happen to be playing at ANZ stadium today, where GWS will play next year.

The Greater Western Sydney GIANTS have reached another important club milestone today, defeating the top of the table Sydney Swan’s Reserves for the first time by 64 points.
The young GIANTS squad outmuscled, out ran and out scored the Swans on a day when a number of young guns offered the crowd glimpses of what they will be capable of in the future.
Israel Folau opened the goal kicking, booting his first of three from a set shot at the 30-second mark of the match.
The midfielders continued to work hard to gain clearances and shift the ball into the GIANTS forward line, in particular Anthony Miles who finished the day with 34 disposals and 13 clearances.
GIANTS Senior Assistant Coach Mark Williams praised the side’s efforts today and said that the win was a sign of how hard the young side has been working on their development in 2011.

Not surprised that 2 port players are being looked at as well as apparently up to 4 crows players are also being looked at.

Would be interesting to know exactly how much they've got to spend, and indeed, how much left they've got to spend.

The latest name being mentioned is Hurley from Essendon, although I wouldn't expect him to leave the Bombers, although who knows in this football climate.

Cant see Hurley going but money talks. At an Essendon function earlier in the year there was talk to Brett Stanton had asked for a trade out of Essendon and his name came up as a possible captain of GWS.

So the list of confirmed/almost confirmed reads something like:

Ward
Palmer
Scully
Brogan
C Cornes
Power
Davis
Giles
Folau

Will be interesting to see who the rest of their signings are, as well as their draftees.

They could be fairly competitive.
