Lets hope that this isn't the case and that the suspicions are unfounded.

Don't like this one bit. This article actually quotes police saying that Woolmer may have been murdered. Hate to think what this will do to cricket if that is what actually happened. Hopefully for cricket and the Woolmer family it will be found to just be a heart attack and nothing more:

Rod,

Yes it will impact on cricket - at an emotional level for a while. Particularly those closest to it.
But like soccer, it will go on and in 10 years time Bob Woolmer's death will become a weird stat or a punchline, just as the Colombian soccer player has become.

I also hope that the circumstances of Bob Woolmer's death are innocent.

Unfortunately from the moment this news broke, I thought that maybe there is more to it than what has been told.

For a country that considers burning effigies of players & officials whenever a match is lost as the norm, then an assassination of the coach isn't that far fetched...

Cheers.

i thought about putting up a post about it being 'sus' but thought it'd look racist so didn't but the truth is now in the pudding (i think)

will this split up the cricketing nations ie sub-continent in their own tests & odi's & then the rest seperately ??

I am surprised no-one raised any query about the Pakistan loss to Ireland. Not taking anything away from the Irish but, since the match-fixing scandal (and as recently as this year a West Indian player was suspened for alleged dealings with bookmakers), I excepted someone to view that type of "shock" loss with a little bit of scepticism.

Australian players get paid plenty, and rightly so
If Pakastani players are getting paid, as reported virtually nothing then
corruption is a factor.

someone in Paki cricket is making plenty of $$$ if the players arent getting any from TV rights etc...

No one has suggested it but IF it is murder than it must have been someone he knew...dare I say it...a player?

Wasn't lost on me but I'm careful these days about bringing that sort of stuff up as I get labeled with being a "conspiracy theorist".

Just heard on ABC Radio - Bob Woolmer reported by Jamaican police to have been strangled.

I feel very sick right now.
Very sad.
My beloved game more than just soured - dragged to the depths of disgrace.
