Djd I am not sure umpires get paid "very very well" considering the abuse they have to put up with, training midweek and often working in bad conditions. We have 3 GFFL umpires this week and lets welcome them and adjust our games accordingly as they do umpire slightly differently.

It is up to a player to know what insurance his club has.

I spoke with an umpire involved and RH chose to approach and spray the central umpires even before the goal umpires had met in the centre of the ground. It was pre meditated and justice was done

you are kidding. training?? bad conditions?? dry your eyes princess and toughen up, the rest of us have to

Interesting point OL but they do get cleared by their clubs to play for Port Lincoln.
I,m not having a go but situations like Montgomeries need to have a firm concise outcome.

Interesting to read the comments from afar but I have never seen any league that doesnt complain about umpires, from the afl down! All leagues/clubs/players need to just get on with it.........
Agree with mandatory sentencing but disagree with front page article given his position in the community.
I think I am right in saying RH has never been reported before (playing/coaching), but I guarantee he wont ever be reported again!!!

Dumbest comment ever. Why on earth would you adjust your game? From what I've heard in regards to GFFL umpires, they have more talent than the PLFL's umpires (Todd George the only exception). Play the game how the game is played, and see what impartial umpires call. Don't change anything, or you're kidding yourselves.

Justice was done? So the mandatory sentencing policy that saw Horgan struck with a two game penalty also included a front page character bashing?

You have to adjust certain parts of your game (only minor). It is common knowledge (maybe not to the uneducated) that GFFL umpires pay less frees and allow to play on more before ball up is done.
The character bashing had nothing to do with us and anyone who thinks so is in gaga land. Justice was done under the new system, there is no room to move with leniency for a guilty plea or no prior convictions.

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

If not for liability reasons, why do players get transferred to the interleague body prior to playing?
What purpose does that serve?

To be fair with your bottom line comment MP i don't think we can blame the umps for the front page headlines, i'm sure that they wouldn't have wanted in the paper at all, perhaps the article writer is the one to blame for all of this.

Are both Harry Miller and Carl Semmler out of their respective teams this week? State country team? If so, couple of big outs, although Carl has been out for a while.
