Thanx to the cove fc for their assistance in a fantastic day at Emu park. By all reports, the sunday sides had a ball yesterday, getting to play before the A's. Big crowd on a great day for footy. Look forward to the return game next year.

So the finals start 4 weeks early, with morphie park playing edwardstown in an "elimination final" this weekend.
The loser is 100% finished for the year, where as the winner still can make it in a months time. Townies have harder run home also, and although parks have it "easy" in their remaining 2 games, for the first time ever 10 wins may not be enough to get you in the 8!!! Will depend on other results.

A Big Congratulations goes out to Brad " Woody " Carpenter on his 300th senior game for the EMUS yesterday. Had the yips early but managed to get on top and FIGHT it out all day for a few sausage rolls and a great win! A huge achievement that not many players ever reach... =D>

In saying that, im just curious to see what players currently playing from other clubs are a serious chance of playing 300 senior games in the SFL? Or for the 1 club?

Flagstaff Hill's Wade Stone is still running around in the C's - presently on 366 senior games. Darryl Rowe still fills in C Grade now and again to add to his tally of 335 atm.
Both these guys played all these matches for Flagstaff

It will probably be a while before our next group gets near the 300 milestone

Johnny 'Wheatbags' Atkinson (formerly Wheaton) has played around 300 senior games from memory around 400 club games. He is still having a kick and has played majority A grade this season.

We also have a few guys around 25-28 that have played 150+ senior games including Simmo Godfrey who has around 220 senior games and seems to be getting better with age (could see him playing at least another 100). Again id have to check exact stats but Doug Clinch Jr had played something ridiculous like 150 junior and 100 senior games by the age of about 22!!

we've got Bryce "Bubblez" Garrard down at Shark Park. Has played over 300 senior games, and wouldn't be far off 300 A Grade games i wouldnt think. And that's after having two seasons playing for Tantanoola a couple years ago.

A little bit of useless trivia for anyone who cares ---
In 1995 Marion beat a very weak Reynella side booting 41-19.
In 2011 Reynella beat a very weak Marion side booting 40-26, which beats 41-19 by one point.

Thanks for the reminder of that BTP. I was knocked out the week previous, and had doctors orders to miss that particular Marion clash. I also remember getting creamed by Hackham in Round 1. It's reasons like these that the success of last years premiership and hopefully this years means a bit to more than just those playing. The major difference though, Reynella had a few very strong junior groups coming through and many of these are playing still now. Marions juniors.... unfortunately it makes the rebuilding a lot more difficult. Good luck to them though.

Petoe - I would say Cove & Valleys are in danger of missing the finals as well.. Looking at there run home they need to win at least 1 game to make finals... Looking at both there draws they could easily not win a game...

Cove remaining games - Brighton/Townies/Shoes/Reynella (going on present form - cove might win one game)
Valleys remaining games - Flaggies/Brighton/Emus/Porties (going on present form - valleys might win one game)

If these two clubs above don't win a game you might see 1 of them miss out on finals... Interesting finish to the season & agree finals do start 4 weeks early for Townies, Roos, Cobra's & Valleys...

Go the townies!

So the closest game of the round (lions v roos) got the smallest write up in the southern times. In a league where close games are sometimes a bit of a rare highlight I thought more could of been said .

Madsportsman it is probally because no one in the league cares about them. They are not any of the super powers so they are not important enough. Not having a go as i am from one of them just stating a fact of what most people think of us.

Roos need to win there last 3 games ( we have a bye as well ), and hope that Cove or Valley's lose there last 4 games.
We finish with Townies, Aldinga & Christies.
