Radio Allocation for Rounds 1 to 4

Postby Wedgie » Thu Mar 22, 2007 6:21 pm

Interesting that no station is covering the Rd 1 match between North and Central at Elizabeth, I would have thought with RPH's many sponsorship links out there they'd be keen as mustard to do it, very disappointing as I was going to rely on it. I can understand North missing out in Rd 2 as they're playing West but Rd 1 seems a weird one . Also weird in Rd 4 when RPH covers the same game as TV but leaves the Sturt v Norwood game without a station broadcasting it.

Round 1
Thursday 5 April

- Norwood v Port Adelaide (N) Coopers Stadium 7.40pm RPH Adelaide
Saturday 7 April
- West Adelaide v Sturt Broadspectrum Oval 2.15pm ABC TV / RPH
- South Adelaide v Eagles Encounter Bay 2.00pm Life FM
- Central District v North Adelaide (N) Hamra Homes Oval 6.30pm No Broadcast - Updates on Life & RPH

Round 2
Saturday 14 April

- Central District v South Adelaide Hamra Homes Oval 2.15pm ABC TV / RPH
Sunday 15 April
- Eagles v Port Adelaide Woodville Oval 2.00pm RPH Adelaide
- North Adelaide v West Adelaide Prospect Oval 2.00pm No Broadcast - Updates on Life & RPH
- Sturt v Glenelg Unley Oval 2.00pm Life FM

Round 3
Saturday 21 April

Glenelg v West Adelaide Challenge Recruitment Oval 2.15pm ABC TV / RPH
Sunday 22 April
Port Adelaide v Sturt Alberton Oval 2.00pm Life FM
South Adelaide v Norwood Hickinbotham Oval 2.00pm RPH Adelaide

Round 4
Wednesday 25 April

Eagles v Central District Thebarton Oval 3.00pm ABC TV / RPH
Saturday 28 April
Glenelg v Port Adelaide Challenge Recruitment Oval 2.00pm Life FM
Sturt v Norwood Unley Oval 2.00pm No Broadcast - Updates on Life & RPH
North Adelaide v South Adelaide Prospect Oval 2.15pm ABC TV / RPH

Being a westies supporter who works on most saturdays, I cant complain with them being on TV for two of the first three rounds. I guess it would be too hard Wedgie, to move all the equipment from Broadspetrum when the game is finished at 5 oclock and be ready to broadcast from Elizabeth at 6:30.

Good to see that all the Panthers games are covered! Helps when the general manager of the radio station (Life) is a Panthers fan! 8)

Still, it is not a good situation that there are some games that are not given coverage, that is not good at all, maybe the SANFL could have done more to schedule games so that didnt happen, even having the odd double header could solve that problem.

Likely though I think that a third broadcaster is needed, I remember when RPH was the poor cousin of 5AA, now they are in the drivers seat, maybe there is a case for one of the FM stations like DDD to come on board?

Well, there's any urgency in me getting a set-top box (I'm interstate and a Norwood fan) out the window. 5 games covering 10 sides, and the Legs not once.

I'm beginning to understand what it must have been like to be a Woodville fan in the 1980s!

Or when a former commentator for one of the stations also works for the team!

Yeah but Woodville played on Saturday afternoons so they'd have a fair grip, you only have one Sat arvo match in the first 4 rounds and that's against Sturt!
North had less than 3 games for a whole season a few years back and that was when we played on Saturday afternoons!

Just to nip PAFC1870's insinuation in the bud ...

- I have no say whatsoever in what games are allocated to whom
- I certainly have no say in what games LifeFM requests, if LifeFM actually has the opportunity to request games.

Like most other commentators I get the roster & when rostered/available turn up.

It is likely that Norwood (Fri Night), Central (Sat Night) & both Glenelg & South (Sun) will have less of their home games on TV than others
because more of their home games are not in the Saturday Afternoon time slot required for TV broadcast.

Phil,

Why isnt the NA V CD game not on air with RPH?

I thought the ratings would be huge as its Easter Saturday and I for one is booked away and cant get there and was looking forward to listening in but now will have to pester Wedgie every 5 mins.

Phil doesn't work for RPH anymore RM, he's doing work for LifeFM this year.
Probably best off asking the 3 regulars at RPH.
