I've heard that Kerry Packer offered Tony Greig a job for life as a thankyou for signing up to world series cricket in the 70's.

I hate Kerrie O'Keefe, I'd rather listen to KG and Cornsey commentating the cricket and that is saying something.

I'll never forget the time driving to my game at porties oval listening to Kerry and a wicket fell.
he said it was a "Rock Hudson ball"
Kerry's offsider at the time said "what do you mean" and the reply was " he thought it was straight but it wasn't"
Slight pause then masses of laughter from all at the ABC and in my car.

The other great Kerry O'Keefe clssic commentary happened the last time Sri Lanka was out here `playing one dayers it had to be scripted/planned, if it was off the cuff, it is the funniest bit of commentaty I've ever heard......

Fernando was bowling and the commentary went something like thus....

Maxwell, "Fernando comes in and oohh slips it down legside and the umpire calls a wide, Fernando walks back to his mark and as he passes, umpire Taufel, Taulfel has a word in his ear, what whould he be saying to Fernando, Kerry,"

O'Keefe, "I think he said, if I had to do the same my friend, I would my friend, Fernando"

The commentary box is quiet, for a second, and than breaks up in laughter...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

A comment was made one day about "Joel Garner dropped his Y-fronts & an anaconda was sighted". I cracked up laughing, but there was some embarrassment from the other commentators, & they sin-binned him.

Rumours are strong that Eddie Mcguire will be the new C9 CEO. Eddie will be heading up the Cricket commentary - he is on everything else!

Eddie is a great commentator, he would do cricket well, but I wouldn't want to see it. Chappelli is the best commentator, damn funny.

From the CricInfo Quotes page:
"My grandma has a crush on Richie Benaud"
A banner at the Gabba which prompted Mark Nicholas to ask "Is that necessarily a good thing?" of his fellow commentator. "Depends on the grandma," replied Benaud, quick as a flash

Some pearls of cricket wisdom from Tony Greig......

"For those of you who don't understand what bowling in the block-hole means, it is when the ball is pitched right up into the block-hole." Oh-kay, good use of imagery there Tone........

And prior to jamming those **** keys into the pitch, "This wicket will provide plenty of up and down bounce" Obviously the day thaught taught tautologies in Afrikans young Mr Greig was out fishing..........

Hands up all those who think Tony is a member of Mensa?
