Glenelg v Sturt Match Review

Postby bloods08 » Sat Aug 13, 2011 6:07 pm

Glenelg 21.6 132
Sturt 18.11 119

McIntyre kicked 8 for the blues.

Anyone know how young Wundke is. Looked pretty bad.

Unless the Bays are up by 18 goals late in the final term, I'm never confident. The inability to finish teams off ( let alone the bottom side ) is always of deep concern !

Sounded like the exact type of incident that should be squashed out of our game. Players being stretchered off in neck braces and being taken to hospital as a result of a hit 50m away from the ball needs to see the book thrown at the Glenelg player responsible. Would be lucky to play again this year if the SANFL is serious.

Don't think it is that far fetched. 3 minor round games + 1 final is about right. ;)

i think you & HP should apply for a coaching job as your football pshycology is as brilliant as anyone going around ;) ;)

too many turnovers from both teams, hp & cuttermans man who stepped up in the absence of duldig kicked 8 in a bog display, i thought basically the difference was we had more scoring options going forward than sturt did, happy to win but we'll have to improve the defence if we are to seriously trouble the top 3 teams

Had to laugh ,we both said he was no good !! Well in fairness he has not done much in his games he has played ( as Cuterman and I both have seen )but he was terrific today , marked well ,kicked very well and his work rate off the ball was good ,well done. Certainly happy if he can continue to improve ,I hope so.

I agree and if Sturt can improve their skills ,which would requiure Luike to focus on it , then they are not far away. Sturt could have won that game today and if their skills were a tad better they would have. Glenelg are similar IMO buut jjust a bit better than Sturt. They have a coupleof good big guys and are quicker than Sturt and Sturt must inject some speed.

An enjoyable game of footy overall.

So when we take a mark at the top of the goal square and a player is stretchered off from within the same 50 m area, thats 50 m away is it? Or are you talking about another off the ball incident in the 2nd qtr involving Glenelg's smallest player???
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Was having his knee looked at during the quarter time break. Tried to come back on after the break but didn't have any pace and he limped straight back off the ground.

That's fine except that that Wundke had been laying unconscious for ~30 seconds before the mark you're describing. He was KO'd when when the ball was up on the outer wing.

Anyway, i hope that young Wundke is ok. It's really scary when a player is taken to hospital in an ambulance during a game and worse when it's the result of an off-the-ball incident.

Wundke had been on the ground face down and motionless for some seconds before the ball got into the 50m arc,so,yes it was 50 metres off the ball, gutless and cowardly by the Glenelg player-have a nice holiday mate
