Got pulled over last night, cop says to me do you know the speed limit here, i say yeah its 60, he then says and how fast where you going, i say according to my spedo 60, cop says it was alot faster than that, i then ask how fast then, he has no response.
funny thing was, i was doing 60, then when i saw them behind me, i dropped further down to 57ish, they sat behind me for around 30 seconds waiting for me to stuff up, they then got sick off waiting and pulled me over anyway, so the time they where behind me when i was apparently speeding, i was actually under the speed limit by around 3kms.
then decides to go over my car, did me for bald tyres (1, just) air filter, sports steering wheel, and ''Oil leaks'' which i explained was just a loose power steering fluid cap, so there was a little fluid around that area. he didnt care, so my VN is off to regency, chances off getting a 1990 P-Platers VN Commodore out of regency? unfotunatley i think its the end of my 1st car worse bit is selling it for parts i will be lucky to get $1000, selling it as it is now, it would most probably clear $4000.
oh well **** happens i suppose.
then one of the cops has the nerve to say as they walk off, oh and your lucky we didnt breath-test you, cant imagine why they would think i was lucky, what amazes me is they are more intrested in defecting my car, than writting me up for ''speeding'', or drink driving when they obviously think i have been for some reason to say i was lucky.
Road safety not revenue raising, pfft yeah right.

That sucks Sam, I had a similar experience ironically driving my other half's Laser to cricket training (in the days when I had a goatee).
He thought I'd stolen the car as it didn't look like the sort of car "my sort" would be driving, then when he realised he stuffed up he started trying to get me on everything from tinting to tyres, luckily for me he gave up eventually.
Could be worse, in the old days my old man would pull over someone he didn't like and bash in their tail lights, and then defect the car!

been true for a while now, dosent really matter what you do, if you have a P-plate up and a Commodore badge they are always looking for a reason to give you a hard time.

Timing isnt to bad though, was a week off putting $800 into the car, and will have my 18th in around 2 weeks so wont be driving to much anyway.
pissed off i filled up the fuel tank yesterday afternoon though.

I was driving to work the other morning at 3.45 am at Nairne in the hills when a copper passed going in the other direction.
He did a u-bolt then must have been doing about 70-80 km's to catch up to me in a 50 zone.
Then tailgated me the entire length of the Nairne main road, about 1.5 km's long, waiting for me to speed or do something wrong.
When I pulled into my workplace they pissed off.
Funny thing was, they did the exact same thing to my boss who rocked up 10 minutes later.
Must have been bored and wanted something to do.
Wolf Pack. OOOOOOOWWWWWW.

Bad luck Sam.
Had a similar experience when returning home from the 2005 SANFL grand final.

Why did you drive on even one bald tyre? Are you suicidal? Was the steering wheel of legal design? [Not everything on sale is road legal.]

Otherwise, yes the cops have statistics to match to prove they are not slacking on the job, and of course if they couldn't pin you for something you had done in the past they will when they can!

They got me for "in excess of 170Km/h in a 110 zone" on the SE freeway many years ago - "Speed Dangerous" was the official charge - after they had failed to nail me on several previous occasions.

As i said it was only just bald enough to be defected, would hardly call that suicidal, and it was booked in to have 2 new tyres fitted this week.
Steering Wheel was of legal design, and was profesionally fitted.

i remember few years back when i left home to go to work .. i admit i had a clapped out t18 with a fair bit of rust ..any way i leave home and a cop is right behind me.... takes him 10 minutes to pull me over ... "you have a bit of rust here" he stated ..." yes it does " so he defected it no probs i can take that quite obvious but then tried being a hero in front of a rookie

ur tyres look bare ...i replied mate there 4 new tyres and heres the reciept .....

then he looks under the bonnet and checks the engine... his reply ur lucky i dont know much about cars...my reply lucky u know what rust looks like ... then i add does the rust affect the structure of the vehicle ... or is it surface rust ur getting me on ...

he got abit upset with me and lectured me ... i got my mobile out and called his superiour and explained the situation ....maybe he got the wrong guy but hey ....

At the point where the cross barring shows level with the remaining tread they have already lost enough tread for their grip to be dubious, and that is before there are any bald spots at all. The tread is then about as thick as a match head. Anything that can be called "bald" at all is beyond that - and beyond gripping on wet or slippery road surface. Mind you there are new tyres with full tread that have dubious grip too - beware the cheapies as well as the overpriced!

My point really was that the tyres are the most critical factor in safety - but brakes come a close second!

You seem to be taking the whole situation a lot more philosophically than I would, I reckon. To lose a car in that fashion seems ridiculously unfair. Is there any more to the story?

I started following football in 1978. Since then the Legs have won four premierships and North and Collingwood combined have only won three. True, the Cats have been dogs on Grand Final day but you can't beat kicking one goal in a granny for shame. If we start talking wooden spoons then you might be in front. Stop projecting Mr Rooster.

Amen. :D

Postby whatcha got there? » Mon Mar 26, 2007 11:05 am

we had an undercover cop from adelaide in town around a month ago.
and the guy pulled me and my mate over.
we were pretty sure she was going to get done for speeding because she was doing 60 in a 50 zone, but the cop asked me to step out of the car.

next thing i know, he's slapping me with a $98 fine because i had my hand resting on the outside of the car door (or pertruding limb, as he called it). i didnt even know that was illegal!

apparently if the car was side-swiped, i could have lost my arm. no offence but id be more concerned about possibly dying if the car was side-swiped, not losing my arm.

im pretty sure he was just on some kind of power trip that weekend.

nah no more to the story, just not really much i can do, so best to just get over and move on.
Spose they could have defected me for Sound system being capable of being to loud, the Exhaust being to loud and neon head lights as well, they would get picked up in Regency anyway though.
