Riverland Independent (this weekend)

2nd semi-final: Lyrup v Paringa @ East Murray
1st semi-final: BSR v East Murray @ Paruna

Indy finals look pretty even,East Murray just over BSR by a couple of goals. 2nd semi looks a pretty firey affair,Lyrup in a close one also

Barmera are gone for 2011. Kicked the first 3 goals of the game and rested on their laurels. Renmark should have folded like a pack of cards after that but instead they headed them at 1/4 time and never looked back. Seekamp should have got at least 12 (missed two absolute sitters). It looked like Barmera's season was already over and Renmark were finals bound not the other way around.

Loxton North are straight thru to the GF and the winner of Waikerie v Berri are straight thru too. It would take more than a miracle to salvage Barmera's year based on what happened today. Waikerie v LN GF for me with a premiership heading to Pie land - they have all the momentum at present.

slapsy did Barmera rest players or get any injuries today. Renmark best side out of finals, i reckon 4 other sides very happy they aren't there.
bc what happened at Berri sounds like game played in 2 halfs, any injuries or reports

DK. Peucker didn't play but I think most others were out there. I could be wrong. Barmera's B's got uncharisterically smashed as well. There must be a few missing somewhere but they are coming from a long way back now. There problem was in the middle, got beaten comprehnsively. When they did get it forward Renmark were able to clear it with system most of the time.

Smitham played forward a lot and looked slower than normal. Had some tape on his calf, Lindsay looks to have lost confidence and is a bit scared, Hughes was playing and I understand he has played mostly B grade this year. A lot of others looked disinterested and didn't give a yelp.

the berri boys were smashed in the first half and showed some real character in the second half to come back like they did. we were 57 pts down at half time and had the chance to hit the front with 5 minutes to go with a set shot in front of goal. Hopefully the boys can start next week like they finished off yesterday. It was a good effort by the lads who were missing Nath Geyer, Kym Sampson and Robbie Vagg, who will be all right to go next week. Will be a cracking game next Sunday I reckon. IMO, the winner of that game will give the flag a real shake.

Renmark probably the best side not to play finals..ever. Roos were average but were missing S.Puecker, D.Perry, M.Leigh, M.Morrell, Murray Middleton, A.Nettlebeck so i dont think they should be written off just yet..

Some of the younger players had a crack but a lot of the players looked liked they were thinking about next week, not a good way to go into a final,Barmera B's will have about eight players to come back into the side also I think it was Wakefield fom Renmark took an absolute screamer,

A few talking points:

Any reports or injuries leading into this weekend's finals?

Interesting text from 'Trev' in yesterday's Pioneer slamming Mark Wright's comments in last Friday's paper. I hadn't read the original article but having now read it, I'm sure it will have Independent football fans spitting chips. Also, an interesting reference to "bunny" in that text.

And...what happened to the hearing with the official who abused an ump? Seems that's gone under the radar a bit. But...we're not the only sport with people sharing their thoughts on umps, a Waikerie hockey player so disgusted by an umpire's performance pushed him. Only got two games. Back in time for finals.

Wright knows why those players went to East Murray though, surely?
Let's face it, axing Goof Smith two years ago has come back to bite them big time.
Goof led them to a grand final and got the boot, via a letter left on the windscreen of his car.
So in turn, say seeya to his two sons and a couple of their mates and there goes a fifth of your best 25 footballers in the senior playing group.
It's not Wright's fault though. He's just been left with the tatters.

Even Wright's appointment was baffling. He put in for the RESERVES job and got the A grade gig.

For the record, has Josh Norman ever played a game for Loxton?

. Yes he has, played a b grade game earlier this year when EM had the bye. Also there wasn't much in the Waikerie player pushing an umpire, the umpire even said at the hearing he put his hand up but couldn't even recall him touching him

and Michael Kirk is originally an East Murray player.

It is a wonder that he is not lamenting the loss of Daniel Evans to Wunkar.

Berri have always had the wood over the Pies at League Headquarters so going to say the Demons by 2 goals in a tight match. Lox Nth will have the jitters going into a 2nd chance final knowing they are 1 win away from a GF birth and Barmera been there recently and know what has to be done, even tho form hasn't been so great recently they will get the goods, so Barmera by 4 goals.
