NFC have pursued this from time of the draft. In round 1 Reynella and Cove played in a game for no points or individual awards and at the same time NFC played Towns with NFC starting on -2 and no score or individual awards for NFC but points and awards to Towns! We feel this is very unfair and agreed on no points to be awarded also no individual awards. We also supported Reynella 14 who also received the bizzar -2 points!

But now you got to play 1 extra game then everyone else, and just so happened to finish top by 1 game, how is that fair?

[quote="Snaparazzi"]There's always 2 sides to a story so here is your chance to tell us the Brighton side (DTH or anyone else that knows something?).

I am told by committee members of MVFC that a phone call was received on Friday evening from the Brighton President, it was in regard to Brighton receiving some information that a certain MVFC player was going out head hunting on Saturday afternoon in the hope he would knock a few blocks off  , i have no idea where this information came from? Brighton then "$hat" themselves and rang the president of the league to make a complaint.

When Brighton rang the MVFC President to discuss they were seemingly left bemused in the fact the player they were so worried about was not even playing on the weekend due to injury     How embarrassing?

Hey Brighton, MVFC have been able to secure the services of Chris Judd for this weekends final at Noarlunga under a granted special permit, he is playing along with Barry Hall (the head hunter).

Hope he plays this week, I might have to go and have a look

Trying to create a diversion so you don't have to discuss Saturday's result Snappa. This weeks another week though.

On the other matter. No mention of any "complaint". Information was provided that was passed onto the SFL and MV for their knowledge. I saw no brown stains on the backs of our denim shorts on Saturday.

On the Junior programming issue. Congratulations Shoe Boy, you have managed to pull the wool over the eyes of the SFL, probably not for the first time. I can see some strange logic in your proposal but only if put in place at years begininning. To change things 2 or 3 weeks from seasons end, which has now seen Noarlunga finish top instead of 2nd in Under 18, is a very poor decision from the SFL. Anyway, you have now set up a qualifying final against your bogey team so maybe you would have preferred to settle for 2nd. Sometimes meddling in things can come back to burn you.

FINALLY - Can all clubs make sure they know and follow the rules for finals qualification etc. Especially juniors. No-one wants the debacle of last year.

Some will say that they deserved to make finals over MP due to the seeded fixture and the extra player points that MP got and that is fair enough to some extent but late in the season MP beat E'Town by 5 goals and the very next week Cove lost to E'Town by 5 goals after giving up a 4 goal lead at half-time. That is ultimately what cost Cove a finals appearance. MP and Cove played only once back in July at the Pastie and Cove won by 3 goals so there wasn't a huge amount between them. I think Cove's performance last week highlighted that many of the players were quite happy that their season was finishing earlier than recent years.

Actually lost their last six.
Cobras travelling along nicely in fourth spot, but then wheels suddenly fell off after they got soundly beaten by Port. Then had a very tough remaining draw including the eventual top four plus Edwardstown. As DTH has said, the surrender against the Towns was the killing blow.

dth you keep bringing up mvp player points. How many times did they go over the alloted 15 points? do you even know. Most of thier recruits came from leagues that didn't sign up under the points system so those recruits are acctually worth 0 points. This is the information is have heard if so i say it was smart recruiting.

You are confusing me with our Cove correspondent Vics01. I have never raised the MP player points allocation but now that you've asked I will comment. I have no problem with some of the SFL clubs being allowed more points. I suppose with MVP making finals and hopefully for their sake they keep every points player next season, then interesting what the SFL and CFL will determine if MP ask for more than the 15 next season.

You are wrong about "smart recruiting" though and "leagues not signed up to the points system". A player doesn't carry points with them. Its the league they enter that assesses what points they are allocated. The NT doesn't have a player points system and 3 lads who joined us from Darwin (not recruited, they virtually lobbed on our doorstep) were still allocated 2 points each due to the level they played in the NT.

Some leagues may not use the player points system for their own league but that doesn't apply in reverse and wherever you recruit from into SFL, points will apply. And remember, any club can have as many points as they like provided no more than the allowed points can line up in the A grade on a given week. However you are silly to recruit too many more points than allocated because come finals when hopefully everyone is fit and available, you can't play all of them in the A grade together.

It would have been rare this season for any club to have every points player playing in A grade on the same day due to injury, unavailability etc. So really, if you are allowed to start with more points then it still means you are likely to line up with more than your opponent on a given day. Do you get it.

Actually believe you raised it.

But fully concur with your views.

We at Cove tanked the last few rounds in order to apply for more points next season on top of the soft fixture.

Happy Valley have had an inconsistent season and are yet to beat any of the teams in the top 4 despite being in front by some good margins against most of them - they have had injuries and were hit badly with the flu but most teams could say the same.

They will have to play MVP this week which they should win and they will then face the loser of Brighton and Morphett Vale in the semi. If they win that they will then play the winner of Reynella and Noarlunga in the Prelim. All are games they can win but they have made it damn hard to make a GF

So what do we all think...

Will Brighton finally get there this year?
Has the flies been abit shaky past few weeks?
Is the old crew at MV ready for the textbook finals form?
Or will the up and coming Shoes with the unstoppable Golding bring back Noarlunga as a legit powerhouse?

I'm tipping repeat of last year in GF but Bombers to prevail after learning from past mistakes.

Shoes already back as a powerhouse and will give Flag a mighty shake.
I'm tipping a Brighton/Noarlunga GF. Until a week or so ago I was tipping a Noarlunga Flag, but I'm now swaying towards the Bombers with their superior GF experience.

Shoes are an absolute chance for the flag this year. I hear they trained at the venue of this weeks game last night, Not that i think that helps but imo i believe they will take care of the wineflies this week which will give them a week off and a home prelim final.

Brighton V Noarlunga grand final
