Well for me the misery is not playing in the finals for the 7th year in a row, despite the fact that more teams make the finals than don't, so the misery continues as far as I'm concerned. It's really, really dispiriting. We SEEM to have a good coach, we SEEM to have a good side on paper, and after about the first 6 weeks we're rubbish.

We won 5 out of our first 6, and since then have won 2 out of our next 13, which would probably be the worst performance of any club in the last 13 games.

D'you reckon participation in the Foxtel Cup might have had an effect?

A valid question I reckon.

Centrals, with their horrid injury run, have certainly benefitted by not being in the Foxtel Cup this season.

FWIW Westies slump has been so bad it's hard to see it being blamed on the Foxtel Cup alone...

You could ask that about North whose form was terrible when they were in the Foxtel Cup but Westies form has dropped more since they went out

That Treeby kick at the Northern end should have been a goal.

The goal umpire was right under it so he'd know. Had to laugh though, it was the most celebrated point I'd seen since Liberatore.

Agreed JTC each team will have a different outcome from being or not being involved.

Interestingly Port, who went the furthest in the comp of any SA side, appear to have not been negatively affected and now look like playing finals...

Foxtel Cup or injuries can't be used an excuse anymore.

Fact is we have a crap gameplan. Everytime we took a mark we stopped, went back and then bombed away. No movement into space from many of our players. Barely any run at all. Everytime the eagles took a mark, they looked to play on and had plenty of players (Lewis, Cicolella, Jarrad, Allmond, etc, etc.) who were willing to run to space to get the ball.

IMO, there are too many guys who do not deserve to be wearing a bloods jumper.

Only a couple of players can put their hand and say they played well for us (Fergy and Pettigrew), while Willits tried hard. Morris' worst game of the year (the weeks events may have got to him).

Cicolella BOG for mine (had the ball on a string in the first half).

Yep. Port, South, North and even West can still make it into fifth spot.

As far as North goes, they can take some comfort in knowing Centrals have already secured top spot and are now focussed almost totally on the second semi final in three weeks time rather than next week...

Is that why even West players thought that it was a goal as well as lots of people behind the goals said that it went through, well the umpires do get it wrong. If the posts were higher it would have been a different story.

Bloods08 comment:
Steven Morris worst game of the year

As I said pre game
Should a vital player for a team be interstate training with an AFL club ?
Did this place some undue pressure on Morris ?

Morris is my favorite WA player
He is a very good player
What he has done on the football field this year makes him a walk up start to be drafted
A player of his brilliance should not be having to impress an AFL club by training with them
Especially when he is needed by his SANFL club in quest of a finals berth
