Great effort from Flaggies to make it to a prelim don't get me wrong i just think that to put the scoreboard up is saying that it is the peak of your season. Do you believe you can beat Brighton this week or not?

VV ... i'm sure he's well aware of that mate ! what u need to understand is that Flaggies haven't played deep into the finals since 97 / 98 ?? i'm not 100% on that ... let flaggies fans walk tall for a change !

I agree

LOL- Vincent I had the elimination final scoreboard up the week before too.

Having played for about 8 years without a single finals win to my name, I figure I may bask in the glory of the boys. If we manage the flag it will be there on a more permanent basis...

Now go enjoy your bloody as hell Douglas Sirk steak, and a vanilla Coke

Hey MatteeG, care to provide injury updates on Gater and Smith. I'm sure 85WAGY will confirm that any player concussed or knocked out shouldn't be playing this week. And Smith's hammy didn't look good.

Going by the scoreboards over the last couple of weeks you would have to say flaggies would be a real chance. What brighton only getting over the emus and the flies lucky against the shoes yet flaggies have well and truly beat the oposition in both occassions.
But its all about the actual day. You would think that flaggies would have more pace than brighton and I would think the fitness level would be equal. I would think they would match up pretty well around the ground. The only difference I would say would be execution of skills under pressure, you would think brighton have them covered.
It would be good if gater and smith come up for the game, to see the match ups of whitford on smith and gater on rigs would be entertaining and the possible match up of jose on johnstone could be a cracker that could go either way. Brookman the old verses the young in anton and channing should be a good show aswell. Will the old head give them a lesson or the youth work him into the ground.
Looking like a great round of footy this weekend over both days. May the best teams win.
BTP I have a poor memeroy when was the last time a club had all teams play in evry grade on grand final day?

;) I don't think Rama would like it if either MatteeG or myself were to give in to your request for our injury updates

But, you are correct that the AFL Concussion guidelines apply to SFL, as they do to all leagues.
It states that a concussed player provides a written medical clearance from a sports doctor to the club's Head Trainer, before consideration can be made for the player to participate the following week

Really, who would have thought?? What did they expect, like 75% of their recruits! No doubt cash will play a part in where he goes. Marion,Morphies? Whos next year??
Good luck Flaggies, but if Smith is injured, all hope is gone :?

Whether this is true or not, I do not know. I do know that he was a junior player at MVP.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Exactly :) Plus I definitely wont post what I dont know!

I do think the winner of us will be playing the Emus. Got a feeling they will complete their Fly sweep for 2011...

8th is still yet to beat 5th ever though.

Just looked it up ---- it happened in the first two years of Top Eight.
2002- Port (7th) 16-9 d. Kangarilla (6th) 11-11
2003- Reynella (7th) 9-15 d. Cove (6th) 5-4

hasn't happened since (until 2011 that is)

Cheers BTP, Now have another one to look up.

Is it the first time 7th has reached the prelim?

And is it a few years in a row now that at least one team has gone out in "straight sets"?

It's great to read everyone's compliments & good wishes for the Bushpig Falcons season so far

Our club is very proud of what has been achieved so far this season - 5 teams into the Prelim, but our Brain's Trust, Players & Supporters are focussed, planning and believing for this weekend.

Maybe we should give Gordon Armstrong our No 1 Ticket - he's definately been on the Flagstaff Bandwagon from early in the Season - thanks for the support Messenger Press & Gordon :D

i've seen all the top teams play this year, flaggies being the most recent. They would have to be the best kicking side, i.e kicking to position over about 35-40 metres, that ive seen this year. Well done to them on what they have achieved so far.
About bloody time their supporters are saying.

Technically an all Brighton affair on Saturday. Those up on their club history will be aware that Flagstaff Hill was the old Brighton Methodist that played in a Uniting Church league before moving up the hill. Flaggies original colours were the Brighton Methodist colours of green and yellow (guernsey on the wall in the FH clubrooms) and they were called the Tigers - not that I've seen too many green and gold tigers.

Bushpigs was an unfortunate name which I believe was the responsibility of Farqhuar, Todman and a few other ex-Bay junior players at FH at the time. It was a regularly used term by the old Bay Disco and Lennies faithful, i.e. if you picked up a bushpig she wasn't Miss Universe.

I remember playing a junior game at Flagstaff Hill Oval in the very early days, not much grass and the soil was quite sandy and had alot of shell grit or something coarse in it because we came off the ground with scratches all over us which stung like hell for days. Soil has changed but still a grassless wasteland.

Could only be in 2002 or 2003. I'll look it up later after I've finished helping Desy get his Boot out.
The other one's easy ---- Cove played the Prelim last year, so its only "one in a row" at this point in time.
Re the earlier query re one club getting five sides in on Grand Final Day ---- pretty sure its not in the last decade but I'll look it up later. One club can make it happen this year of course, but they have to win their Prelims first.
