Country Div Grand Finals

How I saw last weeks Grand Finals

U/13 - Nairne played very good footy giving Meadows no time with the ball with Narine finishing with an easy 7 goal win.

U/15 - Birdwood started well but Nairne finished the better. Not the best game to watch with a Nairne lad being sent off for making high contact to a players head, lucky not to be red.

U/17 - Meadows the better team for three quarters but Kangarilla played the better last term to run out winners.

B's - Very entertaining and close game to the end. Thought Birdwood might have got up but Meadows played tough hard footy and held on by 1 point.

A's - The only difference was that Echunga played the better wet weather footy. It took Birdwood too long to play the conditions.

Congratulations to all Premiers in the Country Div.

Are there any clubs close to the SFL zone looking to come across? I hear the travelling to Sedan and Callington to deliver a pasting are starting to wear thin on several clubs.

rock, with respect, dont you ever get tired of peddling the same rubbish about hfl teams moving to the the sfl ? not getting enough bites on the central thread, so why not give it a go on the country thread.

starting to become a one-trick pony.

No need to get defensive mate, just asking a question as Country Div seems to be a two horse race year in year out. I'm guessing your from one of those two clubs. :)

Well done to the Echunga boys who weren't just the best team on the day but the best team all year!! They probably should of run out winners by more considering the amount of ball and inside 50's they had probably lacked a bit of finish going forward. Had no doubt in my mind they were the better side all year and thoroughly deserved it, I think perhaps some people got carried away with the results birdwood had against the lower sides and read too much into their 30+ goal wins

Not that hard to believe Carey! No coach would keep going on if they had more knifes in their back than a knife shop! :axe:

It's been a busy week for the Birdwood Pastor, hearing the confession box has been getting a work over.

or we read too much into the fact that we'd beaten Echunga the last two times we played them.... had nothing to do with the lower sides.

either way we lost.

How many GF loses in a row is that for Birdwood?

I can think of 4 back to 2003.

Think Nairne will be pretty well up there next year based on what Mt barker are going to lose. Few barker boys moving over the hill. Quality 2 I know of have all ready done the deal.

Unlucky record for Birdwood, who coached their previous losing sides?
