Strange if true, his business is going pretty well, dunno why he'd take a step back from that and get back into coaching

What did he do while at Hawthorn then?

His business wasn't as busy then as it has been in the last 12 months Dutchy. He stepped down from coaching at Hawthorn this year because the business was taking up a lot of his time. Rick now has Adam Switala (former Central player) in charge of the Adelaide operations and Rick, as far as I am aware, is still based in Melbourne. His wife and kids are settled in Melborune life from what I have heard and can't see why he wouldn't want to come back to coaching.

Must have been another Rick McGowan that submitted his application then BP...

That's fair enough then, I wasn't aware of that until now. I was more responding to your point about him stepping away from coaching due to being busy.

Wouldn't be a first. IIRC Brenton Honor was reigning reserves spoon coach when he was appointed. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Why wouldn't Glenelg seek out McGowan, he's a good coach with something still to prove. I've heard that Glenelg have been talking to him. On this topic, I would think that Glenelg have been putting out more decoy ducks than Daffy Duck has in all of his illustrious cartoon career. I would think that another bird should be worried about their coach.

Well they can certainly keep their grubby hands off Tony Bamford. Try Mick Godden instead. ;)

I've also heard Michael Godden is a massive chance for the job. Hmm..
It's all the SANFL's fault.

I'd love Jars to coach Glenelg but surely even Glenelg couldn't be THAT stupid. I know that they like to give a lot of coaches a go but really...Jars?

What was so stupid about reappointing a coach who just made a Grand Final ?I think your point is extending his contract.

See, that comment just sums up Glenelg mentality.
Bay Knob #1- "here's a good idea. Now that we made a grand final let's sack our coach!".
Bay Knob #2- "why would we do that, we've been through 3 coaches in 4 years and we've just been successful...to a Glenelg degree"
Bay Knob #1- "yes , but we have to live up to our standards and history, remember! (nods and winks)
Bay Knob #2- "ahh yes of course your'e absolutely right. Grab the guns and let's aim for our feet while we've finally got the club going somewhere"
