Rd 1 2007 - Sturt vs West @ B'spectrum - Live scores

Postby Jimmy » Tue Apr 03, 2007 10:05 am

HUGE game here to open the season. Could dictate who finished lower and dare we say it

Like all season long, Sturt will be exposed for its lack of talls and quality ones at that. A new coach, new system and the rise of some very promising juniors should see some positive signs for sturt this year but that wont get them back to the promised land. Like usual, the midfield needs to win the footy and be presice with disposal. The likes of Nelson, Sheedy, Whiteman and ol man riv...er...weatherald  and esp Feasty have to lead from the front. Ive given up ALMOST on Bowen but he needs to start playing purposeful footy. The youngsters will be enthusiastic but they will need a few games to get the groove going.
No matter what, i cant wait for friday night to listen to the game, should be a ripper!!!!!

Westies :? got no idea about them, but cupido has to be stopped!!!!

Go you blues but i think westies may just have the edge

I'm tipping Sturt. I think MacGowan will have his group of poor players playing better than Weidemann with his group of poor players.

After our performance on Friday night against Norwood I did not feel confident about round one, but given what happened to West on the weekend, with the magnitude of their loss and a couple of injuries picked up, plus a ton of talent and experience to come into our side, I reckon we may just have the edge.

If we can keep Cupido quiet I can't see where West will get their goals from. Sturt too have a scoring problem but if the likes of Gum, Turner and Weatherald can chip in with a couple of majors and Chambers gets hold of it, we may have a little too much for West.

Don't expect a shootout.

turner is a journey man.
came over here back in 2002 to play for south adelaide.
then i think went back to canberra to play, then back here for the eagles and is now off to sturt.
i cant be sure if he played anywhere between canberra and eagles, or eagles and sturt.
a real club man and picked himself up the nickname 'tickets' for his obvious opinion of himself.

in saying that jimmy he does go alright.
can be dangerous running around half forward and does good things with it.
he will be a decent pick up for the double blues this year as you would have already realised.
he just enjoys time with himself too much, may have changed so will leave that up to the sturt faithful. good luck for the year jimmy

If it's Jason Turner, you can also add that he played the pre-season trials with West last year, then went to the Barossa and Light, I think. Seemed like he had a better offer there.

He is not going to be the saviour of our club Jimbob, but certainly knows where the goals are and seems pretty enthusiastic.

I too have heard some bad reports regarding him sticking to the task and further to that remaining with one club, so the jury is still out from that point of view. He was at West last season and apparently didn't take too kindly to being left out of their round one league side. Consequently he went and played in the country.

He kicked four goals on Friday night and anyone who can bring that to the table is worth persisiting with IMO.

We'll go alright this week Jimmy. I reckon our experience might tell. The Bloods, like ourselves, have a pretty young group but many of the West side are newbies.

Rest assured BJ, if this side of his personality becomes eveident, the likes of Rick, Luke Norman and the leadership group will haul him straight back into line quick smart. [-(

Sarge, if you are relying on both Prokopec and Wiggins to be match winners, then I would have to say I am even more confident than before!
