No one is denying that "chants" add to atmopshere but MONSFAW and the thinking behind it as highlighted in the thread from the Norwood Forum is absolutely lame! Those who concocted the MONSFAW idea surely need some mental health help - they seriously believed that by yelling out MONSAFW that it would confuse the opposition players and supporters??? Here are a couple of classics from that thread:

Make sure the coach and players know this code before Wednesday Night. I hope we never have to use it but it would have been very useful in the second quarter on Sunday!!!! But a secret weapon against Centrals would perhaps confuse the Centrals playing Group and supporters

... you are a bloody ripper !
I think this is a magnificent idea .....and to have it included on the bottom or top of the banner.
The opposition players and supporter will have no idea what it means and our players will know EXACTLY what we are saying.

We need to sort this out quickly though and it needs to be done at training Wednesday. Perhaps Keith Thomas is the one to tell the players ?

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when the delegation from the Spirit fronted Keith Thomas and the playing group in GF week with this pearler! LOL

Many supporters / members / fans and groups of such get excited from time to time about their team but in all the years of I have been following football this is easily the lamest and gayiest idea from a supporter group.

No comparison, at least you know what they are chanting and the chant was not formed by a secret society of tools and presented to the playing group!

Nor was it deemed to be a 'secret ingredient' that would secure a Premiership by confusing opposition players!!
Nothing wrong with the chant, just the stupidity that thinking that somehow it would magically win games for the club by being 'secret'. ;)

Well, the actual words behind 'MONSFAW' were attempted to be kept secret and only known to Norwood players and supporters. This is pretty much what they say on their forum.. the importance of not letting anyone outside the club know what the letters stood for. They believed that this would be a secret ingredient in them winning a premiership.

Kind of agree, if it provides inspiration within the club, what ever floats your boat.
But would have thought the opposition would need to know what it means or it would just become background noise. Chanting Redlegs would have more of an impact on the opposition, similar to U Dogs or Eagles etc etc.

Too much like Neil Craig - no plan B.

The idea of a 'Plan B' is ridiculous. You don't suddenly change everything a week or two from a Grand Final.

True but i do agree that you do need to have different playing styles that can be implemented in different scenarios that may come up in a game.

After only kicking x amount of goals at half time and needing four or so goals to win Norwood needed to play an alot more attacking style of football, higher risk style. Nothing changed though.

Take a look at Central and how we have now developed a structure that is revolving around the 1 key forward.

Bassett was so confident his side was better than last years with his numerous " scoring options " up forward yet they couldn't kick 10 goals in a final.
They struggled to kick 3 in a prelim.
I wonder whether he emailed the umps after yet another loss?
