We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Cameron Cloke looking to play in Darwin as well, in an attempt to revive his AFL career...

I'm sure the Port Magpies would love to have him back but on a full time basis in the SANFL...

Sure would. If we could have kept him in last years side that for the most part had Butcher, Maric and Miekeljohn we would have been a hell of alot better.

I'd welcome him back anytime.

I see in this article it mentions "Horne's departure means South Adelaide now has two vacant spots on its 'import' list of eight for next season."

I didn't realise there was an import list of 8. Does anyone have a list of who these 8 import players are for each club? What counts as an import? i.e. Eagles have McKenzie, Powell, Jarrad, Treeby etc who have been around for ages as well as players like Parry, Grocke etc from other SANFL clubs.

Interstate recruits only I think. Players become local after 3 seasons. Not counting AFL listed players. Might be possible to get a discount if said AFL player stays around.....

I just caught the tailend of the 5AA sports show. Rowe and Cornes mentioned that Rob Shirley has signed with some club but didn't catch which one. I would have thought it would have either been Eagles or South (following Fuller).

If it is for the eagles not sure how much value he will be to the team as I can't imagine how he would fit into Godden's gameplan. Also he doesn't have any pace

Are you still ripped from after the GF , if Godden can factor in Powell , Goldsworthy and Cicca who have similar traits then its very obvious Shirley would slot in apart from being mates with the senior guys ! The interesting thing with Shirley is he has never had a really bad injury his whole career , so unlike Hentschel and Welsh , he will be right with a pre season and gametime management ala Cicca .

I can't imagine Shirls would choose South over the Eagles, especially with Cicca still running around. Money talks tho!

Don't get too excited Phil, last year he was returning home to Port Lincoln, yet had his best SANFL season......

Shirley has signed with the Eagles subject to not getting a coaching gig at AFL level.

Sumner has signed with the Eagles subject to not getting picked up at AFL level.

To be announced next week.

Understand that Adam Cockshell is seeking to play at Manumn next year. Will be interesting to see how South play this one given he is under contract.

Might be unfair, but I'm not sure whether Shirley is necessarily the right move.
Good player, no doubt, but being 30-ish(?), out of the SANFL for a couple of years and was never the quicket player, in our side that has an ageing on ball unit, plus Rowntree who is a good player but not overly quick either, reckon we need to look at incorporating the next generation of on-ballers - Batley, Rayner, Hall perhaps continuing to develop.
