Re: Port Pirie Cricket Association 2011/12
Risdon kept their unbeaten streak in the 2011/2012 season, also look like we are signing an unhappy Wandies player.
From what I saw Wandearah and Props batted extremely slow in their innings, there is no point trying to play a test match in Bgrade.

I am going to be very disappointed if The Recorder front page headline on Tuesday is not "Wrong team in 20/20 competition".

Please explain why the headline would be as you say and why is the wrong team in the 20/20 competition?

In actual fact no one, the ppca has never had a 20/20 competition. If you are referring to the competition that the port football club ran a few years back then i think risdon one the last one they had. Only went for two seasons i reckon and as i said was run privately and had nothing to do with the ppca i think you will find. The competition props are playing today is an official one run by saca in their zones throughout the state and with association involvement. I believe saca has rules that need to be complied with. One being the premier team from the previous season represents your association if they nominate. If props didn't want to be in then risdon would have been asked. I have heard a whispers of some associations breaching that rule. My limited knowledge says the ppca complies, hence wandies last year, props this year. Win this years premiership and you are in. Hope that clears it up for you.

You are spot on thats what SACA wanted. But down my way East Gambier won the premiership but West Gambier for some reason because they won the t 20 have been entered. Easts should have appealed that as they should have made it under the rules and with the side they have would have been a massive chance to win it.bigstack wrote:Squids wrote:Who are the reigning Port Pirie 20/20 champions?

As i mentioned i believe Port Augusta do the same as the Mount. Against the rules but at least they are competitions run by the association, the one squids is relating to was not connected to the ppca. I personally think the position should be taken up by the premiership team, as the ppca does it. Trying to find out how prop went at the moment. I may be wrong but no news may be bad news.

Props defeated Olympic Dam. OD 76 approx, Prop passed easily. Prop 140 odd, dismissed Central Whyalla well short. Need to verify scores but certainly prop won.

Re: Port Pirie Cricket Association 2011/12
Hey all first post for a while but great to see the forum still in full swing, even with the mysterious absence of LBH and newcomer hotlips. Great to see a full round of cricket on the weekend.
B grade wrap
Special mention to Port germein who in the B grade made it 3 outta 4 with a good win over a disappointing wanderah. What makes this a special feat is the fact they didnt win a game last season. Damien "Fluff" Wauchope once again showing his class and staking an early claim to the most runs award.
Risdon destroyed a struggling strykers who are surely now needing a few wins to stay in contention for the finals even at this early stage.
Warnertown and South-port showed they are the biggest threat to ridsons crown with wins on the weekend. Warnertown are a very experienced unit and with N anderson back look a strong side. South-port as well have a few very handy cricketers and look a good side on paper.
Last years finalists props and sollies look to be struggling for numbers/ form and will need to turn it around to keep in touch with the aforementioned.
A grade
Wandies, no surprise, beat a young sollies side that look to be heading for another year of development,
In the other game a rising risdon, looking to bounce back after a thumping last week, took on an unknown South-port who made their first apperance for the year. A good win for risdon, but unfortunately South-port look to have a few worries already. While they have a strong bowling line-up their batting looks very thin and Ben Brown looks to need a few weeks to air out the cobwebs. As for risdon they look to be the real deal once again this year.

Watch out for the giant killing sharks this year. Three wins, all on wet decks. Fluff has added a garden hose to the kit for future games just ot make sure there is enough moisture on the wicket to keep the winning for going.

Re: Port Pirie Cricket Association 2011/12
Just made a couple of phone calls to get the wrap up from yesterdays T20 comp in Whyalla. In the first agme Props were up against Olympic Dam from the Roxby league and held them to 9/79 of the 20 overs. T. Bradley was the pick of the bowlers taking 4 for 7 from his 4 overs and R. Wyatt chipping in with 3. Props then chased down the score in 10 overs with 7 wickets remaining. R. Wyatt and S. Fuchs both scored in the mid 30's.
Stirling North I believe went down to Cental Whyalla, so it would be Centrals and Props to play off to see who would go on to the next round. It was Props who won the toss and chose to bat (on the best looking deck and ground outside of Adeaide, so they all told me). At the end of the 20 overs props were 3 for 141 with T. Bradley top scoring with 44, L. Kovacavic 38 and S. Fuchs 30 odd. Centrals were then unable to chase down the score being bowled out in the 19th over for 101. T. Bradley and J. Makai taking 3 wickets each.
T. Bradley was given man of the match for the final. So Props were crowned upper north champions and will move on to the next round in Port Pirie on the 27th of November.
Keep watching this spot as I should have a combine side to announce very soon.

Re: Port Pirie Cricket Association 2011/12
Sensational work by Props representing the PPCA with distinction.
Looks like Tate Bradley had a day out. Will Tate's form be taken into account when the combined side is picked I wonder?
Let's hope that Props can continue the excellent form in the next round.
Just on the combined side, I wonder if Damien Fluff Wauhope is a dark horse to be selected?
Still the best keeper in Port Pirie in my opinion.

I don't think he'd be interested. He's busy keeping the Pt Germein boys going and on occasion sneaks in the odd game of bowls on a Saturday afternoon. Would be a bizarre selection to select a B-Grader, even if he is arguably the best keeper in the game. It would open a can of worms.

Well done by props, congratulations and good luck in the next roung on Nov 27th. Tate would be a chance, they may use carmody as the second spinner.Must be difficult to pick due to the lack of cricket by some players. Thats while he will likely stick to past performers. Fluff would have no show, nor should he. He is playing b grade cricket. This came up years ago when anderson and warwick were in b grade. I will stick with the wandies keeper. No comment on the pitches this week, getting boring or didn't fridays rain have any impact as it has in past weeks?

Hell Larry, risky business reporting comments such as the "on the best looking deck and ground outside of adelaide" on this site. I'm sure it would have been reported to you tongue in cheek. Has anyone seen the wicket on the etsa wicket in pt augusta or the one at one of the copper coast towns?

I heard that as well AD, also another youngster in Reece Fowler. Well done by Reece. Change my mind on the wikky, likely use dan pine as a fill in.Of the 5 a grade teams i reckon it will be along the lines of ; 6,3,1,1,1. Work that one out.

You are correct, they certainly will not. No 23 in the cup.
