Alleged problems at Westies

Postby sturtpeter » Fri Apr 06, 2007 11:35 am

Despite the ridicule and irony this is probably the saddest moment in West's proud history.

They treat a Club legend like an unwanted pork chop, they recruit an allegedly undisciplined over-paid player and they have the cheek to have their jumpers made in Victoria of all places.

Pathetic efforts by all concerned and what a waste of an alleged $80,000.00

I would think it's up to West supporters to judge their darkest moments.

Alleged problems at Westies.

Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.

People in glass-houses shouldn't throw stones either and Sturt learned through their darkest era between 1989 and 1996 that having an incompetent administration hurt their future by a decade

Actually its a compliment to call me a peanut, given my maternal grandfather's founding of Ditters' Fruit and Nuts in 1918.

I prefer cashew nuts or macadamias though :P :P

Get real, Sturtpeter.

This is a non-issue except it shows that at last there's some discipline when it's needed at a Club where that hasn't always been the case.

If you were around Westies over the last six months, you'd be excited and amazed at the changes being made and that's just the start.

If you're going to post that sort of tripe, at least get something right.

As for the "alleged $80,000", what a joke. Port are the only ones paying that sort of money and even they'd fall a bit short of $80K.

Dash is right that the jumpers are supplied by our sponsors Diadora who we are proud to have on board - you may get a surprised if you check where other clubs jumpers are manufactured or supplied from and they pay for them.

The Club Legend is still welcome and respected at the club - His time in a professional employed position as GM was clearly over with the existing ongoing issues being the business resolution of that cessation of employment --- nothing more --- You mention "Sturt learned through their darkest era between 1989 and 1996 that having an incompetent administration hurt their future by a decade" and yet seem to suggest we have been wrong in this business process -- There is a difference between DT the club legend and DT the former GM that many fail to see.

Reference third point - all clubs at some time make judgments on player - Sturt did several years ago on a player that turned out rather well - the determination on the viability of our recruiting will not be assessable until the end of the season - like all clubs.

I do like your taste in nuts however

Punk - I think you make a good point. :D

Cupido out, Willits in. I dont think west loses anything there. If anything when Cupido comes back in you will be a far stronger unit. I am glad we dont have to face both of them.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

Just on the Westies sponsor Diadora - found the following items in a quick internet search.

Glenelg (Pawprints Jan 07)
Glenelg Football Club is proud to announce the innovative and internationally successful sports company Diadora will join the Bays as a Key Corporate Sponsor for the 2007 season. “Always avant-garde in their style and technological innovation” Diadora will be the official supplier of team apparel for both league and reserves players as well as senior coaching staff in 2007. Diadora, in particular has a very proud football heritage with strong involvement on the world stage as well as at local level.

Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club.
DIADORA NAMED OFFICIAL SUPPLIER OF FORMULA 1 APPAREL FOR THE AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX - The Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club congratulates Premier Partner of the Club, Diadora, on being named the Official Footwear and Apparel supplier of the FORMULA 1 ING AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX.

Thats three clubs in a quick search, I wonder how many of the other SANFL clubs are lucky enough to have a good sponsor like Diadora come on board - I do not see them listed on the Sturt home site sponsors list?

Agreed but seems to matter to SP.

Personally, I will support and encourage any sponsor who supports an SANFL or affiliated club reguardless of who or where they are based.

end of sermon.

Happy & safe Easter to all :D :D
