Read a lot of the comments on here and that will help you understand why. Key word being officials from port and officials from the ppca. Did any of them attend the "secret meeting" you are obviously referring to?
Mate if it was up to the port rooms and the ppca there wouldn't be this issue.
No I don't think that the ppca officials were invited to the secret meeting as most of them are wandearah or southport supporters, oh wait is that what the real issue is here
Sorry i thought the clubs were the ppca. Why would that be a issue, i think they were elected by all the clubs.
No more comment from me on this issue, waste of time. They had a vote and thats all there is to it.
This political carry on is starting to wear a bit thin. I think it is time that we all started eating a bit of humble pie and accept that Port Football and Community Sporting Club have actually provided a top notch facility to enable cricket to prosper in Pirie. In relation to Pt Augusta and Whyalla, Pirie cricketers get it really good. If Ports are prepared to provide a first rate venue free of charge, then maybe the clubs need to look at revenue raising in some other ways. Whatever happened to the good old meat raffles being sold on the bar of a sponsors pub or on a shop counter, or having a game of beach cricket form time to time and raising dollars from beer and snags? A lot of us have grown up for many years with a mentality that if we don't play for Port or an affiliate that we have to totally despise them. I was one of them. Maybe though it is time that we all start to eat a bit of humble pie and embrace the first class facilities that are being presented to us. At the end of the day it is stil the clubs that run the competition, not a sporting club, so Ports may have the best facilities but they will never take over the competition. At the end of the day they really are trying to better sport in Pirie and that is a good thing.
That is hard to say being a Solly man but that is the cold hard truth!
While on that, I noticed that Pirie West Oval is looking pretty good and would surely be a better place for cricket games than the complex.
Why can't this forum get back to the real conversations about the cricket itself. There's a combined game on this weekend and I'd rather hear about how Pirie are going to go and who the late replacements may be and the like.
