The pines and carmody out does leave quite a hole in the combined side.

I agree with squids that brooke would make the bowling line-up too young, thornton would be logical choice or what about merrett or pavlich from south-port?? both capable opening bowlers. Jarrad Adams from risdon could also be given a go.

Carmody leaves a hole and ganley is probably the next in line although jeff twigden could add some real power to the line-up and quick runs.

Then i finally got to the last post by country nomad and it made it all worth it. What he just said would have to be the smartest thing i have read on here for quite some time. I also am not a port supporter (quite the oppisite actually) but yes they have provided us with a top notch facility that we should embrace. So congratualtion country nomad and I hope we can now move forward, except the decision and hope we can arrange a better out come next season.
On the combined game I have herd that Carmody may be unavailable and also the 2 Pine boys. Ive also herd young Cody Brookes may have come into the side but not 100% sure. Does anyone else have any info? LETS TALK CRICKET!

Thanks Larry. Some of the gossip here is worse than being at the netball. Accept the decisions, realise who runs the game and get on with playing some quality sport. It would be good to see some big scores in Pirie cricket and payers showing some real form, rather than worrying about who supplies the beers and what happens off the field.

Should be a good tri-series. Pt Augusta look to have embraced their turf wicket era and they may take some beating this year.

ok here we go. The combined side is official with Carmody, B. Pine and D. Pine unavailable. In comes Ganley which is a good replacement for Carmody, Brooke for B. pine (which i think is a a good move as not much difference between the 2) and that leaves Hutchy to come in for Dan Pine. Pretty fair replacements i think. Yeah Thornton would have been mentioned but i am led to believe he has a back problem and is only playing as a batter for wandies so not really a spot for him in the top order. Big things will be expected of Benny Brown to lead the young bowlers with his wealth of experience. I'm a bit confussed with the Sam Keane suggestion. Can someone please inform me on what he has ever done. I dont recall him ever making a run and I wouldnt say his glove work is anything to rave about. Dont get me wrong i think he has the ability to one day be a very good keeper batsman but not at this stage. We should all be very excited about this combined side as I would think it's the youngest 1 we have put together for some time. There will be a real buzz around the group with a couple of debutants led by some top class experience. Hopfully the boys will do well and the future of Pirie cricket will be looking quite bright.

His glove-work is as good as anyone in the PPCA and he is young, that is why he should be in the team.

Agree with the other replacements, we should be able to knock of Port Augusta and Whyalla.

Hopefully get a decent crowd there.

Yeah I know what your saying and I do agree, I just dont think he could be selected as a keeper alone. That would mean playing 5 bowlers and having him bat in the top 6. Not sure who he would replace in that top 6 if selected, (none of them). Definatly looking forward as his batting improves I have no doubt he will play alot of combined cricket as a wicket keeper batsman but not quite up to it yet. On another note dont forget we also have our u14s and u17s (do they still do u14s?) playing saturday so if anyone gets a chance get down and support our jnrs. talk soon everyone, nite.

Perhaps, but you do need to have faith in your pure batsmen, look at the Australian team, Haddin can't make runs to save his life.

Who are going to be the players who don't bowl / bat?

So you've got me at 7 squids. Does that mean I get the gloves or open the bowling? Pity I'm a cricket follower, rather than a cricketer!!!

We're finally getting a taste of summer this weekend for the summer sports. 35 tomorrow and low 30's Sunday. The wickets may start to take a bit of pace. Be interesting to see if Fluff does take the garden hose out to moisten the pitch and keep the Germein Sharks winning run going!!!

You can take the gloves, our bowlers will bowl at the pegs so you don't need to do much, we can put a long stop for you if needed.

Ill appoint you as Captain Squids.
Do you change things up and go with a spin option with the new ball: Say Bearded wonder in combination with the Terry alderman-like Diddy?
Or do you open up with Whichgrade?
And why are Larry and Bigstack batting so low?
