Pirie to play Whyalla tomorrow. Will only one significant change to the line up be enough to make them more competitive. Whyalla look to have a very strong squad with all in form players. It's interesting though that last week there was a truck load of talk about the Pirie side being dominated with Prop players and that only one selector picks the team. Whyalla has a panel of selectors and they managed to pick a side with 5 players from Roopena and 4 from Central with North and West only supplying one each. Go figure!!! Maybe the selector bashing needs to be given a rest.

No problem if 5 players come from one team...if their selection is justified..most of us believe that a selection of 1/2 props players was not.

Whyalla will smash us if we do not change the batting order.

They would have to start favourite. All of their top order have made runs and a couple of their bowlers have already taken nearly 15+ wickets and they are only 3 games into the season. On Whyalla's Memorial Oval, looks like a big task.

What are Pirie paying for the win? Whatever it is I will take it, Whyalla are vulnerable due to a few circumstances. P.S. 6 Roopena players are in the team ;)

Just got back from having a few Pots with Porky, Croc, Basher and Greeny at the Sporties.
Word from around the traps is:
Plugger Bessen continued his onsalught on the B Grade competition with a big 150 against Port Germein. Seriously who can stop the Bessen Train? No. One. Can.
Southport convincingly beat Risdon at Port Oval. Chris Pollard turned back the clock with an impressive all-round performance. Are Risdons re-thinking their decision to play at Port???? Im told the beers at Port were reasonably priced though.
Solomontown forfeited in the B Grade today. There is no excuse for that. Very very poor effort from the Cats. I hope they didnt leave it until this morning to tell their opposition. If they did a fine should be imposed.

Well the boundary wasn't in 30m's from the fence, how big were the scores on the beautiful batting deck?

There were no big scores at Port Oval yesterday Big Stack, with Southport posting just over a hundred and Risdon a paltry 70 odd.
Those scores however were more of a reflection of some good bowling by both sides, some poor shot selection by Risdon's batsmen and some sensational catches by Southport's fieldsmen.
The pitch itself was a belter, and the outfield was great. Excellent value for shots.

I think it's fair to say that most players in Port Pirie would prefer to play games at Port Oval.
Only today when I watched some of the Risdon v Solomontown A Grade game at Globe Oval, one of Sollies' top order batsmen remarked after being dismissed something along the lines of being "sick of playing on hard wicket over $10 in beer money".
Let's hope that a compromise can be found before the start of next season that will result in more games being played at Port if in fact I am right in saying that that is what the players want. If Im not right on that point Risdon are more than happy to continue playing as many games at Port as we can. Love those reasonably priced pots of beer.

I left before the end of the A Grade match but Risdon looked set for a comprehensive victory, posting 249, and when I left Solomontown were about 6/50.
Brad Pine with some Tate Bradley-esque big hitting at the end of Risdon's innings.

B grade bowlers cutting a ball 3 feet on a belter of a pitch. Hang on, somethings not right here. Who do i believe, squids or pplions.

I have been told that by a few a graders that do have some batting ability. If that is happening as it appears to be, it casts doubt about it being a good cricket wicket.

The wicket likely dries out in the afternoon in the morning it is a little juicy.

The outfield is lightning though....still couldn't get any of my shots past the fielders though

Difficult to comment on the remark made by the Solly top order batsman without knowing his identity, be interesting to know what his stats are over last season and the early part of this season. Maybe the playing surface is not the problem, it may be an ability problem or lack of. Solly scores over the past few seasons do indicate they have problems where ever they play, hopefully that will improve in the future.

You would appear to have a timing and placement problem with your batting squids. Are you spending enough time in the nets and are you listening to the knowledge and expertise provided by your coaches.
We believe Risdon won, do we know who won the southport verse prop game?
