Mickan will definatly be at goolwa next year. Spoke to him a couple of weeks ago. Majority of playing group staying I believe, but if they have a rough year next year I wouldnt be surprised if a few started to leave. Wish them all the best good group of lads.

As you know, there has been a steady flow for a number of years WD. And Yes, you're certainly right it's a great group at Lockleys. The LFC is full of quality people at every level and hopefully this will be it's saving grace.

The Club just lacks LEADERSHIP. Real Leadership, one with purpose, Communication skills, Direction and most importantly one that can be respected. Not just out of the position a person holds but based on the Purpose, Direction and Respect one gives back. You understand, respect is not a given, it is earned, not over time spent or the number of cans drunk, but by results.

Very interesting concepts and approaches from the Executive Committee recently OR should I say, LACK of APPROACH and a LACK of any CONCEPT - The Executive has never spent a cent to retain their past 6 B&F Winners, most of whom were "Home Grown" Junior Demons. They have all eventually left for neigbouring clubs, in higher Divisions. In fact, looking back over the past 10 years the majority of B&F winners and or 'Sons of Guns" and or Match Winners have left and most of them Club People.

But now the "Movers & Shakers" are spending money on retaining and recruiting. While yet another B&F winners goes around the corner to Flinders Pk, another player developed thru the LFC Junior Program. The talent is there just not nutured and retained.

THIS IS A LOT MORE ABOUT THE CLUBS LACK OF LEADERSHIP AND LACK OF PURPOSE & DIRECTION, THAN IT IS ABOUT THE PLAYERS.

The Culture and Direction of the Club needs restructuring - In recent years the focus has been;
1. Is the fridge stocked with enough West End Draught?
and
2. Who is going on The Senior Players Footy Trip and who is going to pay for the Booze?

Allthough arguably important factors in any Footy Club - These have been the PRIORITY goals in mind, not the Club's Culture, not the Club's Direction, not even the Premiership Flag OR the Future!

So I recon until that changes they will continue to lose their quality players and people to higher grades and retain the "Bar Flys" and "Tourists" in between holidays.

I'm all for a cold can or a weekend on the Gold Coast but there's more to footy than that. If they can change this focus and deliver stronger Leadership on and off the ground, anything is possible and they can still all have a drink and perhaps even a trip away.

I would start with trying to recruit ANY of those past 6 B&F winners, Leading Goal Kickers, Former Captains, Association Representatives etc. The 12 odd former Demons ALL currently playing in higher grades, offer them a Dollar and try to bring them HOME - Bet not one has been spoken to by the Executive or any other official representative. Well not sober anyway.

Remember if you continue to;
1. Always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always got.
2. If you don't listen - you''ll never learn
3. If you don't plan - you're planning to fail
AND
4. If you don't communicate - you're just plain dumb.

Thanks for raising the subject. ;)

geez, look away from the div 6 forum for a few days at your own peril. took me half an hour to sift through recent posts to catch up.

now if i understand it correctly
1 - shoc may not be joining us in div 6 in 2012 and there seems to be a lot of objection to that idea.
2 - if they do stay down it is quite confusing as to who their replacement will be - Henley, IF, Angle Vale.
3 - lockleys are spending money

other than that not much else has been happening :)

would love to have a run, but there is no room for a 40+ yr old player who hasn't kicked a footy in anger since age 31 to be taking the spot of a 20 year old.

I thought Executive Member confirmed Angle Vale will not be asked to come up and that SHOC would then be forced to move up?

EM is not the saafl.. :)

how can SHOC be made to go up when the rule clearly states they dont have to if they dont want to and we know they have applied for div 7?

so a club has to be found to fill a spot in div 6..IF have played their card in 2011 and henley want to go down so next in line is AV..

not saying i am right but saying this is how it stands atm..imo :)

What you will find iis that due to Paralowie folding we actually haven't used our option yet. There is a clause due to a club disbanding, we got the option to stay up. I have it on good knowledge that we will remain in Div 6 next year as SHOC want to stay in Div 7!!

i was actually thinking that before that no one has really taken HBF seriously that he's said that IF have been offered to saty in div 6. a trip to IF is preferable to a trip to angle vale for me so if true congrats to IF for yet again avoiding relegation. would definately be one of the luckier clubs going round in the last couple of years if this ends up being th case
