If you're talking about Carter, hardly a big loss considering he played reserves all year. If he can't motivate himself, it's hardly the coaches fault.

He won't be the last, I can guarantee you that.

We have really only lost Morris and Silvester in terms of league players and quality - Hard to claim Pettigrew or Davenport as ours to lose. Piasente retired and would have no matter who was coaching. Mellor left as a result of work opportunities and so did silvester. Who then has left becuase of collins? No one as far as I know!

Collins does a lot more than you realise behind the scenes - AND Morris wouldnt have left if it wasnt for an AFL career - The Power could have had him, but they missed the boat on what would have been a superb recruit.

Great news for the dogs though, they both have been and still are true champions of the SANFL.

The boys have built houses here and James will soon marry the sister of team-mate Jay Nash so even if they did retire, they may have stayed in SA still, who knows?

Good luck to them if they do get through pre-season and play on in 2012.

Sorry I thought they still qualified for this one.

Terming a 23 year old who was taken as Father-Son a "superb recuit" is a bit rich.

He wasn't taken as a father-son selection.

Agree with what you are saying Booney but I also think we would have been good for Port. Slow maturing player and then a knee reco didnt do him any favours.

Actually, I didn't make a comment, I asked a question whether Theile actually had any real information, or whether it was the general thought that some fans have of nobody ever leaving their club. Whether I know anything about Theile is irrelevant as I've made no comments about his involvement with the club. I suggest you get over yourself and read what is being written, not making up what you think they aught to have written.

Brant Chambers spotted at Sturt training last night.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Almost had a heart attack this morning when I read this: http://www.wwtfc.com.au/eagles-news/new ... le-in-2012

McKenzie still to play with the Eagles next season but will be living in Melbourne and travelling over each weekend. Unlikely to be captain. Not great news, but at least is still playing.

Interesting that the club has allowed this, IMO it sets a dangerous precedence for future negotiations with players.

Centrals have tried it with Sibenalar too, and both he and McKenzie have been great servants of their clubs, so comfortable with it in this situation. But agree, I'd hate a club to do something similar for a recruit who'd only been here for a year or two, or only a fringe league player, be granted the same concessions.
Maybe we will see more of it as players work careers become more important to them as/if the profile of the SANFL reduces further?

Not really. Simply say to anyone requesting such an arrangement: "Are you McKenzie? Have you done all he has to earn this arrangement?"

End of conversation as there are only one or two players at each SANFL club to have done what McKenzie has at the Eagles.
