The only reason I started this thread is that since I've turned into the power nazi at home when the solar panels went up earlier this year, I know exactly how much juice my ducted r/c a/c is using ... and it's ugly.

Not worth even contemplating replacing it yet (system is 14 years old) but I was interested in thoughts on ducted evaporative, but I could have just used search a tad better. #-o

I've never been in a building were evaporative cooling seemed to work, except under very dry conditions, and I need mine more for winter heating.
I also worry about growing Legionella in the evaporator.
