Can you smoke in the family fun area?

Could you find the family fun area last Saturday Wedgie ? Not having a dig I thought we were standing in it and a sitting south fan was chain smoking .

As a bloke who hasn't had one in over three months , I can see both sides to the arguement.

I would say no , keep as it is. As a former ( hopefully ) smoker, when i smoked i would definitely consider my surroundings and would usually move away from the crowd when i needed a smoke.

Im more concerned about the pissheads that go that extra can than some smoke in the air

Yeah, it was pretty small, but I was genuinely asking a question, Im assuming you can smoke in the Family Fun area?
They should ban it in the Family Fun area so that people with issues have a choice of stand or outer and noone will complain.

Other than that Id love to see it banned as you should not have to breathe in other peoples smoke.

What is so hard about getting a pass out at the breaks. Geeeez if you can't hang out 25 -30 mins for another cigy you really do need help. Think abouth your health and the 100's around you, passive smoking is just as bad as smoking yourself and I fo one don't need to inhale 2nd hand smoke. I like everyone else deserve the right to go to the footy and enjoy myself without inhaling others smoke.

OK, How will the powers that be, police this? There is barely enough security / police presence as is, so is every club going to employ 'smoking monitors'?

even as a pack a day smoker and someone who works with tabaco smoke everywere (night clubs) even i say if you wanna a smoke go outside the ground. Its not something that kids or people who don't smoke should have to put up with.
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

I personally would have designated smoking areas (not just non-smoking in the grandstand and family friendly areas)- but I can't see it being banned all together. It would probably be detrimental to the crowd figure if it was banned altogether.

Why is it that more smokers don't have your attitude. Good on ya.

Im not sure how footballers feel but as a tennis player when a spectator lights up behind the court and the wind blows it to me im not very happy. Im gasping for air and have to breathe that garbage in.

thats cause most people are lazy and dont wanna move or whatever it is, but as i see it if i can last at the afl, the 2 times i go when essendon play, for a quater, then it shouldn't be that hard at the sanfl, and less line ups so even easier

I thought it was banned in the Family areas, sat. night we sat in the family area, every time I wanted to light up, I moved out of the area.
Ban it in the stands (I think it already is), and the family area (I thought it was, not sure now), but don't ban it every where.

FFS, next you'll want every one that farts banned as well.

sheesh some people on this site (see smoking thread) would also have you shot or drawn and quartered for smoking... ok though to piss/gamble away your hard earned - that seems to be accepted. (how many smokers bash their spouses or lose their house over their disgusting habit????????

I don't smoke regularly nowadays, usually only when I am going on a long trip somewhere (like back to Australia), because that's the time I want to enjoy myself. It's amazing how much public opinion has turned against smoking in Oz, overall it is a good thing, but banning smoking at a sometimes three quarters empty park is going a bit far I think. Surely there can be some area set aside for those people who wish to stand and enjoy a cigarette while watching a game of football. I don't see it as a case of not being able to wait thirty minutes for a break, but rather, it is something I enjoy and it contributes to my enjoyment of watching footy.
A big "no" to any smoking ban from me.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

If the SANFL clubs are happy to make money off pokie machines which have even more issues for society, I can't see them (or the SANFL) banning smoking inside the suburban grounds.
