I think a 20/20 weekend to make up for all the washouts would be a good idea....have it at the Complex on a Sunday...BBQ drinks, might raise some money for the association and would be good to get some more games in. Unlikely to happen though...

Just a query Squids, are you talking about a's and/or b's and a separate competition rather than a round of 20/20 in the actual premiership competition. Nothing you do will make up for the loss of washout games unless clubs are prepared to make them up.

I am talking Bgrade, I have little interest in Agrade cricket...plus I don't think there has been many washouts in the A's compared to the Bgrade.

Like I said I know it isn't going to happen.

Well done to Ben Brown on making the Outbacks team.

Does anyone know who selects that team?

Not sure, someone who doesn't base their selections on current form obviously.

Wasn't former pirie boy, paul pasculli named as the coach a year or so ago? If so i reckon he would be the main selector. Doubt if holden would play any part in it, might have when he was in adelaide with saca. Well done to ben brown and good luck at the carnival. Cream always comes to the top, don't worry about his form in this competition. Not enough games under the belt yet.

Maybe so but form has to be apart of the selection process, going on form you would pick other bowlers from Southport...

Will be a big loss to SP however if he misses games.

I think they have finished now Squids. Serious though if that was the case it is rediculous. Must have been a lot of runs scored in the b's and a's, slow overs and too many drink breaks. What else could it be ?

Speaking of "7", Risdon's B Grade skipper grabbed a 7 wicket haul against Sollies at Complex 2.
6 clean bowled and the other caught behind.

It was a day for good individual performances with Steve Budd and Karl Button making big scores in the Champions League

This from someone who a certain "straight talker" was deriding for being a big mouth who doesn't make runs or take wickets.

Yep being serious, saw one of the Risdon players today at the shops and he said it finished about quarter past 7 with Risdon winning in the final over. They were chasing 180odd so a massive chase for Risdon who's batting is sometimes suspect.

There were 400 runs scored in the Bgrade as well so Port oval lived up to its name of being a batsmans paradise.

- Bit of a shame that no games will be played there this week if my program is correct.

Any truth in the gossip that one club refused to allow the opposition the use of a sub fielder?

Yeah, bit of a shame but it's done dusted now. From what i hear apart from a select few most of the players have moved on. Do you think it is good for the game if a pitch is as you described a batsmens paradise. I thought someone said previously the ball cuts three feet.

I see no problem with the pitch being good for batsmen, when you look at Pirie cricket as a whole there are not many great batsmen but plenty of good bowlers. I would argue its better for the game getting 50 overs a side instead of having teams rolled in 15 overs on a juicy wicket.

I think that is up to the captain, not the club. I know Southport let Risdon have a sub in the Agrade for an injured player, well done to their captain.

Definately up to the captain but that type of incident if true tends to reflect poorly on the club as well as the captain, unless there was some valid reason. Again if true it would seem a foolish decision as you never know when you may need a sub yourself and it is only a game of b grade cricket after all.
