Do you want some cheese with that whine Marbles?

You could always play your C's after the A grade making it a twilight/night game.....or is that too late for all the 30 year olds out there??

A contributing factor to why a 23 year old bloke went into retirement 2 seasons ago. I served my time playing in the morning in u/16's thank you!

*not the major reason to quitting but it was placed into the cons column when considering to continue or not.

Well, I personally enjoyed my two 10.30 games last season.
I'm looking forward to them this year, too, now that I'm living back down here.
The time allows me to get the game out of the way early and then have the rest of the afternoon with my family, or watch the A/B grade or head off to watch a Centrals game.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Why does the grade you're in determine whether you have 4 sides or not. I thought it worked the other way round, you tell the league you want to put in 4 sides and they put you matching grades. Either way (2011 or 2012 models) I would've thought your 3rd and 4th side get programmed together regardless.

what old man is gonna enjoy playing a game of footy at 10am on a saturday morning. Let alone be awake be warm and most of all get through it without injury

Our C grade premiership side last year had an average age of 23 - and that was with a 42 and 34 year old pushing it up slightly. Both retired so we won't have many players in their 30's at all this year in our C grade

I played C grade last year and I'm in my 30's. Loved the early games. Got the game out the way early and had the choice to stick around and watch the A's and B's, or go and do something else with my family with half the day still left.

It would be a fair assumption that quite a few of these blokes in their 30's playing footy would have kids, so I doubt being awake would be an issue. You warm up properly before a game regardless of what time it starts and I've never seen the time of day it is have an impact on a player getting injured. Its a high injury risk sport - day, night, morning, afternoon, friday night, saturday, sunday, tuesday, thursday, 10.15am, 12.15pm, 2.15pm, 6pm, 7pm or 8pm...

I believe a decision will be made in the next 3-4 weeks regarding a D Grade side

I'd say you'd be in Div 8 & 8R. Didn't you guys nominate what grade you wanted to be in?

We did advise the league that D8 and D8R was pur preference, they are going to let us know next week.

If we aren't in D8 it might be a bit hard for us with volunteers umpires etc

New Era not always the case your 3rd and 4th side get programmed together. I played D grade for GG last year and our home games were programmed with our C grade afterwards. But when we played away majority of the time was at different grounds to our C's. Because our C's played against C3 (A's in Div 3) teams but the D grade was in C6 (which was a mixed bag of teams).

This is where a Div 8 for the C/D grade comp would help out teams only having to provide support staff/volunteers at the one ground.

Oh ok, you learn something everyday. So is it fair to suggest that a true Div 8/8R comp would actually help clubs with C & D grades?

I agree some teams cant be where they are paced at the moment. I think it highlights how the set up will be but again some sides need to be placed in different divs. North Haven in C1 is a bit of a stretch. Remember that it is a draft and will be discussed further in Feb. I agree with it in principle but some teams need to be moved around.

just a note, that yes ovies are a single team but if its true they took the last 3 to 4 years into acount ovies had an average loosing margin over 2009 and 2010 of over 200 points or close to it
last season the average loosing margin when they lost was around the 60 to 80 mark
just mentioning it
we stand as one
we fight as one
we win and lose as one
we are one

A turn around to how it has been programmed. I noticed the league has put it that they will be programming most C grade games as Triple Headers unless otherwised advised by each individual club. Not too bad as I am Pro Triples but those clubs that have never or will never agree, will probably continue on with rejecting them. Similar thoughts?

Why would any club reject triple headers? - has me beat actually. Three games on the one oval each Saturday. Ovals only have to be marked once, same volunteers, same bar and canteen is manned by the same people thus not having two set of volunteers and a myriad of other reasons. Can not think of a single reason why clubs would think of rejecting triple header games, unless for "an exceptional one off reason" such as a wedding, or the like where the whole side was in attendance. Even then - why would you get married in football season, or take holidays?

If anyone can tell me why some clubs would not have triple headers, then please advise, as it would appear sheer stupidity not to play them. Awaiting convincing otherwise and more than happy to listen to any good arguments, so let us know why any club would not think they are a fantastic idea.

Player availability, you might have a few that can't play in the morning due to employment. Volunteers/ helpers might be a bit stuffed from being there from 9am to 6pm, I like the idea but can see why others wouldn't.

Not all clubs have exclusive/all day access to their ovals - most of the college sides who use school ovals have to share usage with school sides who would use them in the mornings (i.e. when the C Grade would be playing)
